Riddles

Four jolly men sat down to play,
And played all night till break of day.
They played for cash and not for fun,
With a separate score for every one.
When it came time to square accounts,
they all had made quite fair amounts.
Now, not one has lost and all have gained -
Tell me now, this can you explain?

Okay, here's one:

If you are 8 feet away from a door and with each move you make, you cover half the distance to the door. How many moves must you make until you reach the door?

pretend that you are 8 feet away from a door.
with each step you take, you cover half of the distance to the door.

so your first step covers 4 feet (half of 8 is 4). Your second step covers 2 ft (half of 4 is 2). Your third step covers 1 ft (half of 2 is 1). Your fourth step covers .5 ft (half of 1 is .5)...etc.

this is a bit poorly worded:

What common English word will describe a person or thing as not being found in any place and yet with no changes other than a space between syllables, will correctly describe that person or thing as being actually present at this very moment?
