Since this thread is turning into discussing iPods and stuff, I might ask the mods to change the title to include them as well since I think the discussion is relevant.

If you buy an iPhone, you won't need an iPod as you could synch your iTunes library to it. So yeah, that is a good thing. But you can also place your music library on Android phones.

See I was looking at the iPod touch, but the classic iPod had more GB on it and wasn't as expensive....but I'm waiting to buy another one until mine just completely quits.

@BarbarianKing - Sorry about that. :)

@Aravis Kenobi - If you aren't really interested in playing games or internet, the Classic is a better deal for the amount of storage space you get. But the Touches are pretty cool with the camera and all.

Yeah, but on top of the cost of the touch itself, you have the added cost of internet, correct? Really can't afford that, and I'd want to if I bought it, so I think I'd just stick with the classic.

I'm assuming you are using your own internet to go on TDL right now, correct? As long as it's high speed, you don't have to pay extra for internet on the Touch - the ability to receive internet connection on the iPod is free. You just need to make sure you are able to get wireless signal.

Yes. Most smart devices are able to connect through your own existing WiFi. All you need is a wireless modem and you'll connect the exact way you connect to your laptop and a stuff. You just have to enable your device to connect to your wifi.

I don't connect my new Evo to my wifi. Since I have to pay for unlimited data, I don't have to worry about it. But I do have that option if I want.

If you buy the iPhone, you get into data plans that only allow 200mb or 2gig ($15.00 and $25 respectively) if you go over that, then you'll pay extra. But if you use your wifi (or any other wifi, like at Starbucks or McDonalds) it's free!!!

So the iPod Touch can connect to the internet through your wifi for free! Same as the iPad.

Check this link and then look at the bottom where it mentions wifi.

IF'N ah had a smaht pho-un, ah would have a Blackberry Torch. It looks amizin'.

Yes. I agree! The Blackberry Torch is also a great phone. I never wrote a review on it but it's a cool phone! And Blackberry also has lots of great apps you can use.

I did not get one though because I've had a blackberry for the past 5 years and never really needed to use every feature. Besides, I really needed something with a bigger screen.

Guess I'm a little late to give any hints to BarbarianKing in his phone shopping.

There are some obvious choices when it comes to -Android- phones (that's Google's system): HTC Desire, HTC Hero, HTC Evo, Samsung Galaxy and Sony-Ericsson Xperia.

There are only two systems to recommend when it comes to smart phone systems. That's Iphone's system and Android. All others are useless compared (Like Symbian from Nokia).

When it comes to Android most of the phones are very much alike. Samsung Galaxy and HTC Desire standing out as the winners from my perspective with high pixel rate, great processors and RAM. Android also has a great marked with -lots- of programs including anti-virus if someone's afraid of that. Android also makes it easy to change stuff you don't like on your phone. For example, if you don't like your virtual keyboard ... So what? Change it! That's something you can't do on an iphone. The same can be said about Email clients and different browsers. Android's way more free then Iphone is.

I think my next phone will be the HTC Desire HD. Same Android, same phone. Just with a better camera and some neat changes on the appearance.

(( Just editing to say: We don't have blackberry over here. So I don't know anything about it ))

Thanks. I am still very happy with my Evo. I don't am glad I did not get the iPhone. I think that many people get the iPhone just because they want to feel part of the "bunch" so to speak. I just wanted something I would be happy with and I am glad I'm happy with this phone.

And yes, I was able to put my iTunes library in it. The music only. The movies I can't because the formats are different and even with a player App they still did not play. But I know there's a way so when I have time, I'll look it up.

I'd never get an iPhone because of all the horror stories I've heard about it. I've overheard several people from school talk about how their iPhones had issues, like bugs or something like that. No thank you. If I got a smart phone, I might get the same kind that my sister and brother-in-law have, which I think is the Blackberry 2 or something...it's not the Torch, it was the Blackberry released before it. *The Blackberry Storm, I think*

It has some issues, but not that many. The major problem was for people who jailbroke their phones (hack to free them from installing only Apple-approved apps). Some of them got a virus in their phones. Many of them got rickrolled by a nasty worm by a hacker named ikee. LOL!

Anyway, one thing that really bothered me was Steve Jobs' arrogance when people found out this phone was dropping calls. He said it was people's fault because they don't know how to hold the phone. Eggggggssssscusss me? Since when people don't know how to hold phones? It's not like you're holding a newborn baby!! So yeah. I'm glad I did not get one.

Rush Limbaugh was talking about his iPhone and how if you touched the corners of it it supposedly would drop the calls or internet signal; he said that he had tried to make that happen and it didn't, so whoever had reported that it did didn't know what he was talking about....uh, and it's possible that the problem was AT&T, not the user. AT&T has terrible coverage and service; that's why my family switched to Verizon. *It doesn't help that thieves are stealing the copper wires out of cellphone towers either*

They are stealing the copper wires? LOL! Just like when they stole the catalytic converter in my Mazda minivan about two years ago, LOL!!! The thing sounded like the space shuttle on steroids!!! I'm glad I got rid of that crazy vehicle.

But yes, I think it was more a problem for AT&T, but still, Steve Jobs told us we didn't know how to hold a phone!!!

Atleast over here copper wire is worth -alot- ;) ... I work as a telecom guy, and we get so many thousand just by giving back the copper we have left from our previous jobs

I read people are stealing copper from wherever they can find it. Crazy! Anyway, anyone else want to chime in with their device?

people steal copper wires? what! well thats something new...but then again people will steal anything just for the sake of it...

Actually, it isn't. People have been stealing copper wires from a lot of things for quite a while...

I recently played with an iPad at Best Buy last Friday; I have to say, it's pretty cool! It's like a big iPhone or something, but I don't think I'd want one for myself. It was pretty cool though. And I love touch screens. :D
