Sonnets Here, In-House

You, Vanessa, are authorized to write limericks or what-have-you on this thread, because I respect your efforts to do right in the REAL WORLD. The seriousness of the situation you are trying to cope with over there makes me feel very small indeed, fiddling with my mere words here. I am still praying for you about that.

Here, Lossy, I told you it would be soon!

The squeaky wheel gets greased in metaphor!
I dare not fail to sonnetize a girl
Who hails my Chinese tales with such a roar
Of cheering, audible around the world.

Dear Lossendil, not only do you boost
The spirits of an author, but you urge
A love of learning; where minds are reduced
To ignorance, you make fresh thought emerge.

While weeping in the folds of history,
You show us that you're not lukewarm, young friend.
And faced with women's frequent misery,
I see your cure is NOT to trample men.

Keep following our Savior, Lossendil;
And at the feast of knowledge, eat your fill.

Thank you thank you thank you! :) I love the sonnet. :)
I love the third stanze best, and I love the last line. It's my favorite. Maybe I should put it in my sig, when I get around to changing it. :rolleyes:

The one for Zella is nice too, a good reminder to all young ladies here (myself included). ;)

Reflecting on Mortality

Today, once more, I heard how Tim McGraw
Sang "Live Like You Were Dying"--splendid song;
But many don't believe in any law
Preventing them from getting this all wrong.

"Since life is short, I'll play with lots of boys;"
"Since life is short, I'll play with lots of girls;"
"Since life is short, I'll die with lots of toys;"
"Since life is short, I'll trample people's pearls."

We all agree that this life is too short;
The question is, do you think death ends all?
Or do you know that you'll appear in court
Once you get past what seems a dead-end wall?

To live by selfishness, or live by grace?
We must decide while we're still in this place.

Are vampires good to eat? That "Wedding" thread
Seems to suggest it. Even if you could
Make sure the darn things were completely dead,
What would it take to make the flavor good?

You'd have to cook them for at least a month
To soften up the stony-textured meat
(Assuming that you mean the Twilight stuff);
And I'm not sure it ever would be sweet.

Perhaps you would be better off to cook
A dish including treacle, since I see
Some features of the Lewis Carroll book
There in your Duffer thread of comedy.

With Dormouse gone, the Hatter's there instead;
I hope he likes that "Never-Ending" thread.

Yes, it was supposed to make readers laugh.

Hee hee,yes they DON'T taste good. Mom got some twilight candy hearts to tease me and they were NASTY! Also they had the words "dazzle" on them and they were sparkly. I was like "ARE THESE MY LITTLE PONY CANDIES OR WHAT?"
Plus,this was nice for me to get my mind off that dread boy Isaiah:D
And about alice in wonderland,yeah I've been getting into that. We read the book along time ago and we enjoyed it alot. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.
And keep up the sonnets,you're funny.(this really made me smile! thx *hugs*)

Some Thoughts About Our Words--
Or Is It Words About Our Thoughts?

The words which leave our mouths, or sometimes leave
Our fingers through a keyboard and a screen,
Must journey through so broad a mental scene,
That we don't always know whom they may grieve.

Depending on who reads or hears our words,
What mood they're in, and what they have perhaps
Heard earlier, our words may seem like slaps,
Or have a sweet effect, like singing birds.

I don't say this to make you paranoid;
There simply are unhappy accidents
Which cause our words to give someone offense,
Because of which, our minds must be employed

In learning always more of human hearts,
To stop our words from being poison darts.

For A Friend Who Lamented
The Conflict In Her Church

Once in an essay, my analogy
Was of a warehouse, where the lights were out
And windows covered; those who could not see
In there had one more thing to worsen doubt.

For each one there, as I imagined, had
A chainsaw, running, and they couldn't find
The switch to shut it off. This would be bad
Enough if they could see, but they were blind.

Some panicked; some tried putting up a fight
Against unseen attackers; but the thing
Which would have helped was turning on a light--
This would have stopped them blindly injuring.

Your church needs light, and it may be your niche
To be the one who finds, and hits, the switch.

Awww thanks,though I don't get it that's sweet. I might need an explanation again,all that happened was the pastor got to conservitive and dissagreed with everything my dad did and said. He began running the place like a business and there was that Tiff with "HER",So we ended up leaving and then joining another church which was AWESOME,but now it's closed:(
So today(sunday),we just sleep in and do nothing...sort of sad isn't it?:(
(this one IS for me right?)
