The Fire Kitten

Prologue

Peace would never last at Reandalawo, though everyone hoped it would. Mozart still led the LFF Catlition, though she was older now. Midnight and Flower and their three siblings had left the LFF Catlition and graduated to Ribbony’s original Catlition. Frodo, Smokey and Shadow were growing too. They were no longer scared little kits, they were on the verge of being great warriors themselves.
------------------------
Tori looked fondly at her tiny kits. There were five of them, Jako and Creamy named for two great warriors. Pumpkin, named for her color and because she looked like a pumpkin. Tansy, named for one of Tori’s favorite flowers. And Fireheart, named because from birth she had been a feisty one.
Nobody knew the father of the kits. Rumors floated about. Was it Jak or Misty? Or maybe one of the Catlition? None could be sure, for Tori never let the secret out, she never even told the kits themselves.

Meanwhile, far away from Reandalawo, a new nameless malice lived. He went about, terrorizing good creatures and convincing evil ones to join him. Some said he was mad, others said he must have been abused as a kit to act as he did. Those ones who said the later tried to make friends with him, but either ended up dead, or joining forces with him.
One young cat he captured was named Hope. She became one of his slaves. Yet her siblings always followed him, attacking the one who had taken their sister. Their names were Braveheart, Silverpaw and Shaggy. They were orphans, about five months. Braveheart and Shaggy led, together, any troops they could muster. But always they were left deserted. Neither young tomcat wanted to fight, but they knew they had to get their sister back. So they always went on with their sister Silverpaw, chasing the one who had their sister Hope.

The tiny newborn kittens, the four young refuge cats, the LFF Catlition. All these three would soon understand their parts in this story.
For the nameless malice moved towards Reandalawo, everyday getting closer…
Closer, closer…
Closer as the Fire kitten grew…

Chapter one
The Innocence of a kitten

Fireheart walked around in the little patch of trees inside Reandalawo. She loved it there and wished that she could venture into the woodlands of a wood which used to be called Wolf Woods. Now it was called Freedom Forest, because many creatures had fought and died for freedom there.
Blissfully the little kitten trotted about the trees. She was not two months yet, so she could not go any further than the walls of Reandalawo without an escort.
Suddenly a small cream-colored head popped out of the bush in front of her. Fireheart jumped slightly, then cocked her head at her brother.
“What’che doing Cream?” she asked.
“You know grandma Missy and mummy and miss Dora don’t like it when yew talk that way.”
“Sa? They ain’t here, I kin talk like I pleases.”
Creamy shrugged, “ ‘Pose you’re right sissy, like normal.”
“So what’che up tu, Cream?”
“Mozie want’cha.”
Fireheart sighed.
‘She alus want me, jus ‘cause shes gonna be my menter when I get older. Phump! Great t’orrier, great annoyer, I says.’ thought the kit crossly.
Walking out of the patch of trees with her brother, Fireheart switched from baby speech to more proper (or proper ‘er as the kits called it).
“Oh no.” she groaned as she saw her so-to-be mentor looking for her.
“Fire there you are!” a small kitten, not much larger than Fireheart and Creamy, came running towards them.
“Hellwo Mozart.” muttered Fireheart politely as she could.
Mozart smiled kindly at the two kits, “It’s almost lunchtime kits, better head in!”
‘Leastway dissa time she has good reason for buggin me.’ thought Fireheart.
“Well, c’mon kits, lets head in! Race ya!” Mozart darted forward with speed amazing for one so small.
But Fire was right behind her. Her tiny legs racing to beat her elder, Fireheart ran as fast as she could towards the door. Creamy lagged behind them both though.
As it turned out, neither Mozart nor Fire nor Creamy won the race, because they were stopped before they got to the door.
“Well isn’t this a sight, eh? Mozart running a race with two little kits? Huh, I thought better of you Mozart, or at least expected you to be a better example to minors.” Dora, a big fluffy brown she-cat, former cat-en-charge of Reandalawo. She glared down at the three, towering over them.

“Oh Dora, I’m still only a kitten too.” said Mozart rolling her eyes, “And I challenged Fire and Cream to a race y’know. We like racin’ don’t we kits?”
Though she drove Fire crazy the kitten harbored silent admiration for Mozart. The five-month-old leader of the LFF Catlition was a sweet kitten, but a tough cookie…. And Fireheart aspired to someday be just like Mozart.
“Humph, Mozart, really I’d rather have you in school then running about with little kittens.”
Mozart motioned to the two kits, “Oh of course, Dora, of course… Oh and Dora, its ‘than’ not ‘then’.” Before Dora could reply the three kittens had disappeared into the main building of Reandalawo. Mozart giggled as she heard Dora storm in. She, Fireheart and Creamy were hiding behind the big door to the main building.

Love it so far! More? Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?:p

Maybe you should put a link to the first story in this thread so that if people start reading it who haven't read the first one they can easily find it.

hmm, ok more:

Fireheart could still never believe how kittenish Mozart always acted. “An amazing warrior and a great role model, that Mozart,” Fireheart’s mother had told her once, “She killed that evil wolf Cogg you know, even though she nearly killed herself in the process.” Fire had heard Mozart’s story before, (Mozart was writing a book about her adventures even) and loved the whole tale. So though Mozart unintentionally exasperated Fireheart sometimes, Fire’s role model was Mozart, no questions asked.

“C’mon, methinks its safe.” whispered Mozart. But when the kittens ventured from their hiding spot there stood a very cross looking Dora.
“Ooo! Run for it!” cried Mozart darting around Dora, Fire ran the opposite way, and Creamy ran down the middle.
Fire was headed for the big table, she tried to stop but the floor was too slippery. Squeaking in alarm she slid into one of the sides of the tablecloth that was hanging down. She slid even better then, and dragged the tablecloth (and everything on it) along with her and was dismayed to hear the clanking of breaking dishes behind her.

Fire heard Dora’s voice somewhere behind her, “Oooh when I get my paws on that kit…”
‘Now you dids it, Fire, I’m gonna die, or not get desert….in twitch case I’ll dies from lack of shooger.’ thought the kitten.
“Fire!” a tiny black head popped down, “Dorya wants ya.”
“Oh now you’ve dones it Tansy.” sighed Fire.
“Fireheart! Get out from under there… Now!” she heard an angry voice.

‘Ooooh noes! Dee one worser thing dan Dorya… mama!’ the kitten groaned, crawling out from under the table she felt her mother grab her by her scruff and shake her roughly.

“First Dora says you insult her, then you run and do not apologize, THEN you break some of the best dishes and tear the tablecloth! And through it all you could’ve gotten badly hurt! Ooo!” Fireheart knew her mother was angry, for only when Tori was really angry could she yell while holding one of her kits in her mouth.

“I sorry mummy.” Said Fire earnestly, but inside the kitten was screaming. Where was Mozart now, when she needed a defender?
“Tori, leave Fire be, and Creamy too when you find him. It was my fault. But we never insulted Dora.” Mozart was a good kitten, and since she was the eldest, blame fell to her she decided.
“I told the kits to run from Dora, but we had only been playing and Dora told us not to run on the lawn, so we hid from her. Then she found us and I told Fire and Creamy to run. It wasn’t their fault.”
Rita, Mozart’s mother stood, she was now the co-leader of Reandalawo along with Jako her husband, Mozart’s mother.

“Dora, firstly you needn’t chastise kits for running on the lawns.” Dora looked like she would say something, but Rita continued.
“Secondly, it doesn’t sound, from Mozart’s account that they insulted you in any way. And thirdly, Tori, put Fire down! Jako, you and I always did such things when we were small!” Fireheart tried to imagine her mother sliding across a floor into a tablecloth and braking dishes.

Ok this is the part I had to re-write because the evil computer got rid of the part I'd written before. if you think I kin do better with this tell me or tell me if something doesn't make sense, because I tend to not read what I've written before I write more.;)

“Its not a big deal so don’t make it seem like one. Kits will be kits and they only are for a short while, so let them have their fun. And as far as I see Fire has done no real damage. There was a time, long ago when these things were not made a big deal out of. I suppose though that only us elders remember that time. But really Dora as you being an elder I’d think you would remember those times.” said Ribbony sternly.
“I guess you’re right Ribbon. And we all need those reminders sometimes too. Now lets move on.” Jako sat down and looked at the other creatures.
“Well what? Sit down and go on wit your lives! Haha!” he laughed, and this time everyone else did too.

Chapter 2
Refugees and a sharp Tiger’s Claw

Braveheart walked cautiously from the marsh-grass that hid him. In his mouth he held what appeared to be some small rodent, though it could have been a bird or fish for how mud-covered it was. Brave too was covered from head to tail in smelly mud. He wished that they didn’t have to do this, day after day, but he promised Hope he’d get her back.

Braveheart recalled that horrid day when Claw came to his village. The scruffy orange cat led a group of hundreds upon thousands. Brave’s little village had no chance against them. Brave and his siblings, Silverpaw, Shaggy and Hope tried to escape, but Hope had been captured. Ever since Brave, Shaggy and Silver had trailed Claw, making small attacks on him, trying to get their sister back.
Brave hoped that Shaggy had had better hunting then him. For Brave’s small catch wouldn’t last the three siblings long in the wilderness.

When Brave got back to the make-shift camp Silver was sitting by a pitiful fire, Shaggy was nowhere to be seen.
“Shaggs ain’t back yet, sis?”
“No, he ain’t back yet, you bring food with ya?”
“Yup.” said Brave setting down his kill.
Silverpaw spat disapprovingly at the small offering, “Taint gonna get us far, Bravey.”
“Yea, I hope Shaggs brings back sometin better.”

Silverpaw was a grayish silver kitten with sparkling amber eyes. She stared into space, as if she was daydreaming. Brave hoped ever more fervently that Shaggy would bring back more food.
Brave had dark hair with gray-cream stripes down his sides with brown eyes. He was only six and a half months old, but he had seen more than any young cat should see, much like Mozart and her siblings.

Shaggy came back, a rabbit dangling in his mouth. His long black fur was matted and his green eyes tired, but he looked triumphant.

“Whoo, boys we gonna have us’selves a feast tonight!” cried Silver happily.
“Tis good then, we can go further tomorrow then.” said Brave.
“Let’s just focus on tonight for now, eh bro?” suggested Shaggy.
As the three ate their portions, happiness surrounded their little campfire. Fired with a sense of responsibility tomorrow they would go to find their sister, but for now they were just three kittens hanging out.

“There is a wood up ahead, sir.”
Claw turned to the scout, “Good, we enter Wolf Woods. Ha! Wolf Woods, that twas what my old master Cogg called it! Ha! Bet them creatures have long since re-named it, eh?” Claw laughed.

Claw had ugly long orange hair that he never bothered to clean. He had yellow eyes and sharp claws. His former name was Tigerclaw, but he had shortened it to Claw, because it sounded more menacing for a warlord cat.

“As I recall Reanlawoins are softies when it comes to kits… bring the youngest prisoners to me, the ones who are seven months and younger.”
Young creatures, about twenty of them, were brought before Claw. The cat’s yellow eyes whisked over most of them. His gaze rested on a small black kitten who held her head high and did not cower beneath his stare.

“What is your name, kit?”
“Like you have a right to know!” squeaked the kitten.
Pawing at his sword-hilt, Claw repeated his question, “What is your name?”
Knowing she must stay alive, the kit hissed, “Hope, like it matters to you.”
“Hope? That name will not do. I do not want my prisoners to have hope… Blackie, yes that will do. Your name is now Blackie.”
Hope bit back an angry reply, after all what right had this cat to change her name?

“I have a job for you, Blackie.” He kept repeating the name as if to drill it into her head, “You will be escorted to Reandalawo, there you must make friends with the creatures there. Learn their secrets, then come back to me and tell me what you find out!”
“Why should I do a thing for you? How do you even know I will come back? ‘Cause I won’t ya know.” Replied Hope coolly.
Claw smiled, “Because if you don’t,” he signaled two nearby guards, “I’ll give the order to attack your three precious siblings, who are nought a half days march away from us.”

Hope knew she had a choice. She could do what Claw said, and spy on the Reanlawoins. Or she could sacrifice her siblings for her own freedom.
The she-kit bowed her head in submission, “I will do as you say.” she said softly.
Smiling a cruel smile, Claw nodded “I knew you’d see it my way.” He said.

Hope was escorted to the edge of Freedom Forest. One other cat remained with her. Actually he was more of a kitten than a cat. He was small, with big green eyes and dark black stripes down his sides. The hair on his head was very dark brown to black.

“What are you another slave they’re sendin with me?”
The little cat just shrugged and said simply, “I ain’t no slave.” Then he proceeded to explain their mission in greater detail.
“We is supposed tu be sis and bro. Youse the older ‘un.” That made sense, since Hope was larger than the kitten, “An’ we gotta be spies on da Reanlawoins.” He contorted the word ‘Reandalawoins’ so it sounded more like ‘Renlayoins’.

“And what is your name? Mine’s Hope.” Said she, hoping Claw wouldn’t have told this kitten about her name change.
As it was Claw had not told the kit, “My name Shady.” said the kitten.

That was the end of the conversation.

Chapter three
Good liars

When Hope saw Reandalawo for the first time she could only stare at it with awe. The huge walls, covered in a slippery substance so none could climb them, with the top of a building sticking up above them.
“S’nock onna door.” it took Hope a few moments to understand what Shady said because the kit had never had education and could only talk in kit-slang and the way he heard Claw’s ‘recruits’ talk.

Hope looked up at the iron knocker far above her head.
“I can’t reach that, ya goofball!”
“Letta me stan’ onna your sholers.”
Hope did and the little cat could just reach the knocker. He banged it several times before he heard something.

“It could be stragers.” said the first voice.
“You means strangers, Smoke?” the second voice said.
“Ya, strangers.” said the first voice.
“Or might be stranger-er strangers.” came yet another voice.
“We betta see who tis.” the first voice spoke again.
“Opens up inna der!” called Shady.

But the door was already opening. It swung inward, as if some giant was pulling it on a rope.
Hope and Shady found themselves staring at three young kittens. They were about three or four months old and very cute. They were in fact FSS, or Frodo, Shadow and Smokey.

“Whose are you, stragers from farway paces?” asked Frodo… the kittens grammar was not quite perfected yet.
“We ares tired an ‘ungry tavlers. Sis and bro. Dis is my sista…”
“Hope, my name is Hope. This little cat’s name is Shady. We need shelter an’ food… Um, d’you kits think y’could get some grownups?”
“Sure!” in a flash little Shadow was gone just as her name suggested.
“Shada’ll be back soon.” said Smokey, who was smiling cheerily.

“What’r your namies?” asked Shady.
“Dora’ll yell at you for your bad bad grammar, Shade.” warned Frodo gravely, “Names Frodo.”
“An’ I’m his sis, Smokey.”
“Our other sis’s name is Shadow; we call her Shads or Shada.”

And even more so in real life!:D

At that moment Shadow came up with Brightheart (who had been her long-time friend… at least a long time for Shadow) and easy-going Mistyfoot (Mozart’s eldest brother).

“Hey kittos, wassup?” said Misty coolly, it was popular belief that either Misty or Mozart would end up being in charge of Reandalawo when their parents got to old… and with good reason.
“What’ll we do with these tow?”
“That’s two, Frodo, and I’m not sure. What should we do with them Mist?” asked Brightheart.
“We’ll take them to our parents, and give ‘em some food.” replied Misty.

****

“It’s not fair!” Fireheart screamed into her pillow, “They said it was not ‘ny big deal, then they maka me go to my room!”
Fireheart had been sent to her room (which she usually shared with her siblings) because of her earlier “outrageous behavior” as Dora put it.
“An’ now theres dose new kittens whose getting spec’l treatment, an’ I here locked up inna my room!” the kitten wailed.
Suddenly Fireheart heard a voice say “Things are not always fair, little one.”
Startled Fire jumped and looked around, “Whose der?” she asked, fear in her little voice.

“I am the White Cat, Fireheart.”
Fire’s eyes widened, “How d’you know my name? An’ how dids you get inna here?”
“I know everyone’s names, Fireheart, and nothing can keep me from my children.”
“I can no see you.”
“That is because your anger blocks me from your view.”
“Oh.” Fireheart tried to calm down.
“I still no see you mista White Cat.”

Then Fireheart heard a soft, kind voice singing. The singing she could never describe.
‘It was beautiful and terrible. Lovely and frightening, oh how I could go on!’ she told others later when they asked about it.
The song itself sounded something like this:

“Put away you anger,
Put away your fear,
Then you will see me,
For I am very near.
Little dear Fireheart,
Fire burns in your soul,
Use it for good.
For good.
Good.”

Then Fire saw before her a huge white cat. He was pure white, whiter than snow. His eyes had no color, and yet they were so alive! Mozart had put it this way ‘And His eyes, oh His eyes. His eyes were more than one hundred, no one thousand million, times more beautiful than mine!’ and really that is the best description.

“W-w-who are y-you?” asked Fire, her eyes widening.
“I am the White Cat.” Came the strong, commanding, yet kind and gentle, voice. The voice did not seem to come from the cat (for Fire said afterwards “I don’t think he ever spoke to me, and yet somehow he did) but around her. It echoed around the room, yet never was the voice heard in the hall, in fact nobody ever heard Fire speaking either.

“Do not let your anger overtake you, Fireheart. Chase it from your heart as you chase leaves around the lawns of Reandalawo. For anger will never save you from evil.” Then the White Cat began to fade.
“Wait! Wait!” wailed Fireheart, but the image grew fainter and fainter until she was again the only one in the room.

Fire heard a noise at her door.
“Who der?” she asked.
“Can I come in, Fire?” replied a voice. Fire knew who it must be.
“Mozart! Oh well I guess you kin…” Fire heard a lock click, then Mozart’s little dark head poked in.
“Mama wants you.”
“My muma or yours?”
“Both.”
“I’m cumin!” Fire called. Jumping out of her bed she started to hurry down the stairs, but she heard a voice behind her.

“Hey Fireo! This way’s faster!” Mozart was sitting on the top of the railing, patiently waiting for Fire to join her.
Fire laughed and joined her friend. Then the two slid down the rail, laughing hysterically.

Dora saw them and would have scolded them, but her brother Ribbony laid a paw on her shoulder.
“They’re only kits once, Dors, and we were like that once. Let those two be.”
“I guess you’re right Ribbon, and Mozart has seen so much sadness and death already in her young life.”

****

Shady’s eyes darted around to look at the many creatures surrounding them. He cowered beneath their stares and crouched against the ground.
Then he heard a voice call and say, “Alrighty, alrighty, give these two a bit of space, I say!” a young tom-cat, perhaps a bit older than Shady himself. He had golden fur and brown eyes.
“Hi there!” he said to Shady and Hope, extending his paw, “My name’s Toto.” His face was kind and friendly, but Shady moved backwards. Hope on the other paw, shook Toto’s outstretched paw happily.

“Oh cheer up Shades,” she began, “He’s only being friendly.”
“I guesses.” said Shady sulkily.
“Hey liddle feller, you’d better run, Dora’s on her way, an’ when she sees how dirty you are she’ll give you the bath of the century!” laughed Toto.
Shady’s eyes widened- if they could get any wider-and he took off running to the orchard. FSS followed him, they didn’t want a bath either.”

Hope was alone with these strange creatures. She had this one chance to tell them the truth about her situation. But what would they do when they found out? Think she was lying?
‘No, I’ll stay here until Brave and Shaggs come. Then I’ll run with them.’

"For anger will never save you from evil." I like that. It is so true.

Yeah....

Fire and Mozart suddenly bowled into Hope. A young tom-kitten with dark hair ran up behind them.

“Haha! Mo, Casp, Fire you three certainly make an entrance! Haha!” Toto laughed.
“Whoops! Didn’t mean t’ hit ya there!” Hope was surprised to hear not the voice of a tiny kitten but of a half grown one on top of her, yet both kits looked like infants.
One crawled off of her and laughed again, “Hey, my name’s Mozart the Meerkitten!” she said cheerfully.
Hope only stared. She knew she was being impolite but she couldn’t help it.
“Whatsit to ya? Starin at my sister!” called the young tom who had been chasing Mozart and Fire.
“Oh, er, sorry it’s just that…” Hope bit her lip to keep herself from saying something silly.
Mozart was still smiling, “Oh yes, my lack of growth, or that’s what the grown-ups call it.” She explained.

“And what about the other?” asked Hope.
“Fire you mean? Oh she’s normal. Fire’s only less than two months.”
“Ya, my name Fireheart, everone calls me Fire doe.” Fire also scampered off Hope.

Hope suddenly felt at home with these kittens, they were so like her and her siblings.

She laughed with them, “My name is Hope! You can call me Hopie if you want though.”
“And what brings you to Reandalawo, Hope?” came a commanding voice behind her. Hope jumped and turned round to see who was there.

It was a large tomcat. He had brownish orange fur with black stripes down his sides, a stern face, but kind brown eyes.
“I- we, were just looking for a place to stay tonight. We’ve lost our parents you see, and we’re a bit confused…” the words came automatically out of Hope’s mouth.
Jako nodded sympathetically, “You and whomever else with you can stay here as long as they want. I put you under the custody of my kits.” He motioned Mozart and all her siblings over.

“This is Misty the oldest. Then Clancy and Brightheart, and then Zaphod, Marble, Midnight, Susan and Flower. Last but not least: Toto, Caspian and Mozart (I don't know where Dorthy went). Have fun kits!” then he shooed the onlookers away. Clancy and Bright shut the great door of Reandalawo, and Hope watched as the forest diminished until she could no longer see it.

“Now then, you said there was another with you, fine kit?” asked Misty ever so politely.
“Er, yes my little brother, Shady. He ran off with three other kits jus before you all appeared.”
“It mus’ be Frod, Shads an’ Smoke!” squeaked Fire, who had remained with her friends, “I knows where dey twill be! Foller me!” she ran on ahead of them and the rest followed her.

Presently they came to the edge of the small clump of trees in Reandalawo.
“Dey inna der, I knows they mus’ be!” Fire said confidently, “Smoke, Shada, Frodo! Comes out wherever you is!”
There was no reply.
“I know what game they’re playing at… they’re gonna jump out an’ scare the bejebes outta us… or that’s what they think.” Giggled Caspian.
“They aren’t?”asked Fire incredulously.
“No silly, they’ll still try! But we’ll see them.”
“How?”
“We stand in a circle back-to-back, that way at least one of us will see them pop out and they can’t scare us!” Caspian marveled at how Mozart seemed to be able to read his mind.
“Great idea!” cried Midnight.
So the kittens stood back-to-back in a circle and waited.

****

Shady watched his newfound friends chase each other in a game they called ‘catch-it’, much like our ‘tag’. Shady did not join in though, he sat quietly, watching them. Smokey walked over to him and smiled.

“You wanna play, Shade?” she asked sweetly.
“Naw, I jus watch.”
“You sure? It’s lotsa fun!”
“Whats ‘fun’?”

Smokey’s eyes became wide, wider than Shady’s, if that was even possible.

“Fun? Fun is, is…” Smokey tried to describe it, “It’s when you’re happy.”
“I never been happys den.”
“Ok, then you kin be happy wit me!” Smokey grabbed Shady’s paw and before he could stop her she had him locked in a tussle-fight.
Frodo and Shadow stood by rolling on the ground and holding their sides laughing, for in less than a minute Smokey had Shady in a headlock and was holding him there.

“Lemme go! Lemme go!”howled Shady to no avail.
“You gotta fight your way out Shades!” called Frodo.
“I cants!”
“Y’mean you can’t even playfight?”
“NO! Now lemme go!”
“You better learn how to fight quick den, cause Smokes has gottcha inna headlockie!” laughed Shadow.
Shady thrashed about franticly. He smacked his paws against Smokey’s head and managed to get out of the headlock. He rolled over on his back, his paws all out.
“Nice Shades!” congratulated Smokey, who was grinning ear to ear.
“I’m leavin, c’ya.” Muttered Shady, who proceeded to walk out of the proximity.
“What’d we do?” asked Shadow, who looked concerned.
“Metinks we scared Shady off. I dunno why though.” Replied a confused Frodo.

ok, to clear up any confusion this may now cause I changed Shady from a boy to a girl. This is because the cat (really she is more of a kitten though) that Shady is based off in real life we didn't know if it was a boy or a girl and now I'm pretty sure its a girl... so thats why... and I did that with Smokey too if you remeber.;)

Chapter four
Kittennapped!

“There’s one o’ the rascals now!”

The kittens turned to see where Flower pointed. Shady had run out of the woods and came at them full speed ahead. It would’ve been disaster…
TWANG! An arrow with a string on it landed in front of Shady, who, unable to stop, tripped over it, only to be caught in Caspian’s paws.
“Whoa, whats the hurry, kit?” asked Caspian.
“Kit youself! An’ tis none o’ your busyness!” squeaked Shady pushing Caspian away from herself and running on.

“Um, yeah I gots to go too… bye!” Fire ran off towards the main building of Reandalawo.

“Well that went well.” muttered Susan.

****

Shady had what she thought to be the most brilliant idea she’d had for a long time…
She would kittennap Fire and her siblings!
‘Then when I goes back to Claw he’ll be real ‘appy! Den he’ll like me mores!’ thought Shady.

You see Shady had been without parents since she was two weeks old. Claw found her about then on one of his raids. The kit could barely talk, but Claw decided he’d keep the kit, at least as a heir so that there would be no struggle when he died. Claw was a smart cat too, he knew he’d die eventually, one way or another, unlike some warlords who thought they’d live forever.
Claw had named the kit Shady, because she was shifty and tended to stay in the backround. Shady was a spy typically, and the young cat did her job well. Often she tried to exceed Claw’s instructions, like now, by thinking up her own plot. This either got her in trouble or a ‘well done’ from Claw. Either way she always tried to do better.

Shady giggled mischievously.
‘That little cat an’ dee other four, dey da purrfect size tu kittennap! Yea an’ Hope ‘ll help too!’ grinning Shady hurried off to carry out her plan.
****

I have a feeling Hope's not going to be very willing to help.

.... this next update will tell that....

Fireheart sat with her siblings trying to learn the LFF Catlition song. It was the next day and Mozart was teaching them. The kittens could join the Catlition as soon as they learned the song, and since all the kits wanted to join they all tried very hard to learn the song.
This is how much they had down so far:

Oh we are da brave
Oh we are da fearless
We stand true
For everything good
We fear nobody
For nobody’d ever challenge us!
Once dey see our bravery…

“No, no its “they” not “dey”.” corrected Mozart, “Try again.”
That was how it had been going for the last half an hour. The kits were getting bored, and Mozart could tell.

“Get this line down and I’ll take you out to play.” She encouraged them.
“Out inna woods, Miss Mozart?” asked Fire’s brother Jako.
Mozart chuckled, “Maybe… can you sing the whole LFF Catlition song in unison with no mistakes?”
“Dats possible?” exclaimed Tansy.

Mozart tried to keep from laughing, “Of course Tansy! I taught it to my siblings and yours too and I can teach it to you five!”
“It’s takin a long time Miss Mozart.” observed Pumpkin.
“Well then let’s stop talking! Because the sooner we get this down the sooner we can go play!” cried Mozart, “Now from the top! ‘Oh we are da brave….’”

Fire breathed the fresh air deeply. It was a welcome relief after the stuffy schoolhouse. She and her siblings had only just emerged from the school a few moments ago, but Mozart had fulfilled her promise and taken them out as soon as they got the line down.

“Hey, wets play chase!” squeaked Creamy eagerly.
“No, wets play hide-an-wook.” said Tansy.
“We’ll play both!” resolved Mozart, “Hide and look chase!”

All the kittens agreed on this, and since Mozart had come up with the idea they dubbed her ‘It’.

Now sometimes little kids, as you may know hide together when they are good friends. Well Tansy and Fireheart were closer than friends or sisters, for they were both. So the two little girls went and hid together, in Fire’s favorite spot; a hollow tree in the orchard.

As little ones also do the kits giggled uncontrollably. Then suddenly they ceased. They had heard a noise above them. Thinking it must be Mozart come to find them, they were as quiet as little kits can be when excited. But oddly they heard a very different voice calling them.

“Fire! Tansy! Where are you?” Hope called them softly. She felt horrid at what she was going to do, but she dared not disobey Shady and have her siblings killed, so she agreed to help with the kittennapping.
“Sssh! Mozie might be around!” Fire whispered.
“Oh, are you playing hide and look then?”
“No hides and wook chase! Mozie came up wit it! Its brilitiant isn’t it?” explained Tansy.
