This all explains how stupid labels are...
I mean, If you're not going to fit the description of the label to a tee, you might as well not label yourself at all...

if a person cuts, they're not automatically considered 'emo'

Yeah... but if you wear "emo" clothes, listen to "emo" music, are depressed, cuts yourself, have "emo" hair...
You're pretty much emo...
Now, if you choose to call yourself emo, and you dont do all that, you might as well expect people to assume that you live out most of those.
