the third production video has helped to re-excite me :D (the whole kili-esq thing wasn't really helping...)
Heh he yeah... :p He looks to much like an elf, anyway. -.-

I loved the video, and totally squealed at the end. ^.^ Chris Lee is amazing, and I'm so glad he's in the movie.

In action, Kili looks more like a man than an elf... he definitely looks better than his production still, but he still doesn't look very dwarvish...

Dwarf images...

The Dwarf Story is a sad one. After Smaug had almost annihilated the dwarf population, the survivors(including Thorin Oakenshield) went into exile. No help came to the dwarves during this time. Here in exile they roamed homeless. I think the Blue Mountains was their temporary dwelling.

How much of an influence did the exile have on these dwarves? These images show that these characters had personalities, talents, cultural awareness and heritage.

Gimli would have stood out in this bunch.

Well, these sorts of threads where movies are based on books shouldn't need spoiler warnings. Anyone who wants to know what happens in Hobbit need only read the book. While Jackson probably won't follow the book verbatim (Lord of the Rings is the best example) you get a general idea of what will happen.

Though I don't remember any of the dwarves dying, it's been a really long time since I read Hobbit. I plan on re-reading it not long before the release.

****spoilers****

Yes, Thorin dies at the end, and they lay him under the Mountain. His nephews, Fili and Kili, also fall defending him.

Lol I am ready for my re-read too... I am trying to wait until after January (when I am married) so that I can read it with Forte so that he doesn't continue to be completely lost with all of my nerdy talk about the movie :p

The Hobbit was an important novel for me, because it lured me across the line from SCIENCE fiction stories to genuine supernatural FANTASY. Being raised in a materialistic family (in the sense of ignoring the spiritual, not of being rich and greedy), I had started out with sci-fi.

Lewis considered his Space Trilogy science fiction, yet it seems more like fantasy to me, and it is by Copperfox's definition. Maybe he just thought that because it involved space travel...

Okay...this is weird. I was just talking to my dad about that trilogy, but I couldn't remember the title of it. Then I come on here and see this post! FREAKY!!!

I bought my dad a copy of The Hobbit, btw. :D
