The Lord of the Rings- J.R.R. Tolkien

So a little while ago I baby sat my very good friend's six month old baby. In order to get him down, not only did I read to him, but I sang songs to him. Two of them were 'In Dreams" from Fellowship of the Ring, and "Into the West" from Return of the King. ANd you know what.....

they worked!

That's a good idea. Those are both peaceful-sounding.

Now if I had known this in the 90's when my sister's kids were all still small :D It could have saved me a lifetime :p

Cool lulaby tactics!

 I'll have to remember that when my little sister has to go to bed. :) She's bee having issues with nightmares lately and I hadn't thought of singing. Hehehehe, worst casenerio she laughs at me and my singing ability and forgets about the nighmare right?? :D

To say the least....

My friend's little brother has perfected an imitation of Gollum's voice. Once she noticed him staring at her for a long time with an evil look on his face. She was going to ask him what was wrong when he hissed, in an imitation of Gollum's voice, "Flessssh!"

Speaking of disturbing....

I've been perfecting my Gollum voice. Smeagol is harder though. It's hard to do it without my voice cracking. :D But I freak so many people out with that voice...

Everybody should try this:

Go to Google Maps

Click on "Get Directions"

Click on the little human icon that indicates 'walking' directions

In the first box, type "The Shire"

In the second box, type "Mordor"

Hit the Get Directions or whatever the blue button says at the bottom.

Prepare to laugh.

:D

OMG! It gave me directions from the shire to Mordor LoL. It said it would take 2 hrs and something to get there LoL. I tried it with the walking person and saw what it said LoL. That is so funny!

I had a dream about them finally releasing Hobbit-themed happy meal toys like they did for the fellowship... The different sets inter-locked to make a scene from the movie... However, by the time I started putting the pieces together, they were no longer Hobbit themed... they were The Lion King :(

I adore Lord Of The Rings, movies moreso than the books but I did read them all years and years ago (and didn't understand a word until the films came out :p). Then after the movies came out I was hobbit-obsessed and did my room that way. I fell out of love with it after a few months but I came back to it very late last year and I think my love is here to stay this time. :D

I also had a hobbit themed room when I was younger... It was so awesome! :D I miss it... Guess I will just have to have a hobbit-style house someday :p

Oh, and welcome to tdl! :D Lord of the Rings nerds are awesome!

forbearne,

What are your thoughts on the Hobbit casting, news and such? Do you like PJ as a director? Do you like the casting?
