I read that in London they did a showing at some convention for the new film. The general reaction appears that people liked what they saw even though the effects were quite early into production. To be honest, I have not read this series. I have heard that he has done what I've noticed most first time authors do, take a bit from everyone they have read, mix it and make their own thing. Plus, I hold a grudge that someone younger than me got published already, ha ha. I am looking forward to another fantasy movie coming out though and will probably see it at some point.

He does take alot of his writing style from J.R.R. Tolkien.
But not too much.
It's a really good series and you should read it.
But don't read the first few chapters and put it down,
Alot of people do that then say it a bad book.
 
Yeah, alot of people do that. I just finished the first book. It was cool! But at the begining the book was I have to admit getting just a tinsy bit dull. But it gets better.

...............:D:D No they are really great fantasy novels i would call them one of the best fantasy series ive ever read, not #1 though b/c Narnia is my top fantasy, but anyways give them a try they are really worth reading.
 
ive read all the books and i hope the movie does good cause im intrested in the first move but im hoping they do all three movies i mean i love the series and wen i saw a little box for the movie at malco my jaw dropped and i was like "must see nothing will stop me"
 
Interesting. I will see what I can do about reading them. Are they in paperback yet? I might be able to spend the money then. Plus, they are way back on my list of reading material. Such as, I must finish the eleventh Robert Jordan book quickly here, then I'm reading Perelandra~C.S. Lewis, if you didn't know.

As far as i know the Eldest one isnt paperback yet, well i havent seen it in paperback. Eragon is which i have and i have Eldest but its hardcover. Im on Chapter: Drifting Page 150.
 
Those of you floating through The Eldest, finish it!

It does get thick and a bit slow towards the middle, but it's really a great book.

I would encourage you to finish it.

Hey guys, I finally finished Eragon! It really is a fab book, to anyone who hasn't read it..........READ IT!!!! I'm reading Eldest now.

EDIT: The movie comes out December 15th 06. Can't wait!!!! But why are Arya and Eragon BOTH blonde? Well, Ed Speleers could pull Eragon off but Arya is meant to have black hair! They've made her blonde! :mad: (No offence in any way to blondes, it's just Arya's meant to have dark hair and I'm mad that they've made her blonde. That's all.)
Oh yeah, on the subject of Arya- she rules! Firstly she's a really good fighter and she's left-handed from what I've gathered........and so am I! :D

Well you cant always expect movie to make the charectars exactly as they are described in the book. I would have liked them to have a dark haired Arya but its not like it will ruin the movie for me.

Something im excited for besides the movie
  • The Soundtrack
  • Some of the Merchandise ( especially a poster)

OOH I love collecting movie posters. But there's no room on my walls, and I was so hoping to eventually get a Stormbreaker (I'm a huge fan of the Alex Rider books :D) and Eragon poster. *sigh* Maybe I could stick it on my ceiling or something...
