The Official Liam Neeson Thread (Aslan II)

Hi, everyone!!! Geez, I haven't been here in a long time! Glad to see that a lot of you I remember from before are still around. Just saw PC a while ago and it reminded me of how much I missed this place... and everyone who inhabits it!

Have you guys already discussed Aslan's role in PC? My only complaint was I would have liked to see a little more of him! Otherwise, His character came across just as I expected it! I kind of thought it nice that He was bigger, too. The size difference was definitely enough to be notable and made Him look even more majestic!

Welcome back, Aslan's Friend. I think Liam Neeson has a superb voice for Aslan. But I don't think the writers of PC gave him near enough lines! He was hardly in any of the scenes, and when he was, they often changed his lines from the book so that he appeared to be somehow less that who he really is.

Neeson did great with the lines he had, but he deerved much more.

Thanks! I couldn't agree with you more there! They really should have given Aslan much more time onscreen! Liam totally nails the vioce, for sure! My biggest beef about the movie was how much of the book they left out completely. Had they stayed a little more closely, I think Aslan would have gotten a lot more screen time. They really should have wanted that, with the appearance of the CGI characters being so much improved. He came across to well in the few scenes he was in not to have him in there more!

I hope this won't be the issue in VODT!

Liam Neeson is to Aslan what Ian McKellen was to Gandalf.

It's funny prior to them announcing he was playing Aslan for the first film I went and saw Batman Begins. When he spoek I thought," That's who should voice Aslan." He's authrotiative, adn yet gentle ( see Star Wars Episode I when he adresses Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme.) Plus he isn't a big "name" voice.

I'm glad that they went with him as apposed to say James Earl Jones or Michael Clarke Duncan. WHile they have deep voices, they'd be too "God-like" and Neeson has a more"Christ-like" sound ( see his line in LWW, " It is finished." It just sounded the way Jesus would say it in films or audio Bibles.) Actually I heard an audio CD of him telling the story of Christmas and it was just exquisit.

I would like to see more of Aslan in later films. I wonder if Neeson would voice the lamb in VODT too, or if some one else would. I really can't see his voice coming from a lamb. Lion yes, lamb not so much.

Dude's!!! Havn't posted in this thread for...Idk... FOREVER!!!! Lol. :p

I missed you all soooooo vary much!!^^

I agree on the whole "Aslan screen time" thing...I was encredibly dissapointed when I seen the movie....got all excited when things were actually going the way they were sopposed too...only for Lucy to wake up from...a DREAM! That was just...mean....:( PC was my favorite book of the series (next to LWW), because of the vary reason that it was the one who featured Aslan the most, and then they go and give him hardly any screen time!! UGH!! That made me so upset...I wanted to cry.........that was not what I exspected at all...I mean don't get me wrong...it was great as just a movie with no comparisims to the book...but having read the book and having known what was really sopposed to happen...it was just....really depressing...and I think, even just as a movie, they still if nothign else, should have given Aslan the screen time he deserved.:(

I'm actually kind of nervous to find out what they are going to do with the next movie.......

Good to see you in these parts, AFD! This place is really beginning to feel like it did before I left. I was kind of concerned too about that until I fould out the director of Amazing Grace was taking on the film. I want to believe that he will remain truer to the books and will put the Christian elements to the forefront.

I think I have to agree with you..
It was a great movie, but I missed Aslan in it.
I mean, Aslan was in the movie, but not as much as I expected!
I just hope, that he will be seen more in the next movie.. I mean, he's the main charactar! (or how you spell it..) Aslan is in every book, and it goes about him and Narnia. I hope, really hope, he's going to have a bigger role in the next movie(s):)

Let us all give a prayer to Liam Neeson. He has just lost his wife and his two young sons (13 and 12) have just lost their mother. Natasha Richardson, also an actress, died after an accident she had while skiing.

Let us all mourn for an extended member of the Narnia family.

I feel sad for Liam and his family. My heart goes out to them. :(

Referring to those that are wishing Aslan was in PC more...he was in it more than you realize. It was meant for his presence to be spirtually there more than physically there. I believe it was like that in the book too. Just because you didn't see him until the end of the movie, it doesn't mean his presence wasn't still in the movie. :);)

who is this guy??

Hey, that's fine! That's one of the things about Mr. Neeson I've always respected .He is a great actor, but he and his family maintain such a low profile ( despite being in many high profile films) you don't really know who he is, but well, his voice rings a bell and he can always give a great performance whether it is Oskar Schindler, Qui-Gon Jinn ( Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace), Henri Ducard/Ra's Al Ghul ( Batman Begins) and of course my favorite and yours, Aslan. He even does a great job reciting the alphabet with Ernie and Rubber Ducky on Sesame Street!

But any rate, my sympathies and prayers go out to him and his family.

Hello everyone! I've been gone for so long ... but now I'm back =)

My sympathies and prayers to Liam Neeson and his family =( The accident happened not too far from where I live, so I heard about it for weeks on end. All my best wishes to them.
