I don't think it would be a good idea to release a Narnian movie about magic rings anytime close to the release of "The Hobbit." Do "The Silver Chair" first. Then a few years later, do "The Magician's Nephew."

I see your point..I just finished reading The Hobbit for the first time and noticed the same thing...though the rings do different things, the audience will most likely note the similarity. I still say the the thing to do would be to continue on with the movies in the order Lewis wrote the books, rather than in a way that makes no sense (and it would make no sense if MN was next).

Well VDT just debuted in Japan and had a fantastic $6.4 opening weekend. This is more than 20% better than PC's opening weekend in 2008. So it looks like our chances of VDT hitting the important $400 million worldwide milestone have increased a lot. Now we have to hope for some good legs and that Tangled won't hurt VDT in Japan in two weeks too much. That Tangled movie has been a box office beast so far and has stripped Aladdin from it's title of 2nd highest grossing Disney animated movie of all time.

I didn't think about the whole rings angle. That makes it somewhat different then. Just for personal preference I think SC would be the best choice to make next.

I hope that VDT makes it!! But I hope that Tangled does well too... I just can't help it! It too deserves recognition.

Wow. The fans said they didn't want MN next, so they found a small group and told them to clap for MN. Whatever. And calling DG the "C.S. Lewis cop." What an arrogant thing to say. Whatever. Whatever. Whatever. Somebody take the temperature of my blood please.

LOL my thoughts exactly...talk about a non-representative poll...

The must have just made a random choice on what to do next. SC is the obvious choice, even a first grader could have told that.

Oh well, I hope they do a good job with MN.

They will confuse people even further...now there's another order!
1) The way Lewis wrote them
2) The order going from earliest to latest (MN being first, LWW 2nd, etc.)
3) Movie order?!

This is ridiculous!

I really don't think this was a random choice... There is a lot of money behind movies and they won't just pick a random movie stick with it and hope that it comes out good! There must have been some reason... The fans have obviously been saying SC, and I remember the directer said he would let the fans decide, which is totally NOT true as my brother predicted! Any ideas on Why they would pick MN before SC?

I was thinking the same thing! The new viewers aren't going to recognize any of the characters thus making it more confusing for them thus = less money for Fox!

From what i heard, the director or producer or someone recently died and he had a special liking toward MN, so I think they want to do this and dedicate it to him or something. But that's just speculation. I can't see any other reason to do MN first.

Ok thats one thing I was thinking, but why wouldn't they wait? It would bring more honor to him if they waited and it was a better movie! haha

Yes that's what I've been saying :D

True, they wouldn't just say, "Oh here's TMN. Let's do it next" with no reason behind it. They either: see TMN as a potential money maker, see TMN as redemption for the franchise, or Gresham is behind it. But even I can't see Gresham going against fan wishes.

Oh wait. He did that with PC and DT. Never mind.

One thing to keep in mind about MN being first is that even though more people (according to our poll) wanted SC to be first, I think its in all of our best interests to keep the franchise alive at the box office. And if that means that a LWW prequel is likely to draw more at the box office mainstream-wise than a VDT sequel at this point, then I am all for it.

Another thing is I'd like to bring up is the criticism for some of you thinking Gresham isnt enough of a 'Narnia Cop'. Lets remember that Gresham isnt the only one financing this movie. Gresham can't just say 'its my way or the highway' if he is not financing the movie 100% himself. Anyone who's worked in a group knows that there has to be compromises when it comes to working together. Quite the opposite, at one point Gresham was clearly told that he either takes the plot additions in VDT or no movie would be made. So I'm glad that he made the decision to bring VDT to the silver screen with its plot additions. Thank you Douglas Gresham! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for all that you do for the Narnia franchise. This fan is nothing but grateful!
