Yeah TMN wasn't released last, but it was released directly before TLB (which is the last book). That's why I said that it would be smart for them to put a movie in-between TMN and TLB. Looks like they've done it.

LOL yeah and did you know there is a different order they published them in. They didn't publish them in the order Lewis wrote them :)
Lewis completed HHB before SC but they were published in the reverse order. That is the only difference and Lewis himself wanted the Caspian Trilogy completed before the other books.

I think the reason behind MN being made now is that the filmmakers want to bring in Tilda Swinton whom they love (as shown in the way she's been shoehorned into every movie after LWW) and probably bookend the series with her major appearances. If MN is successful enough to justify making another movie, they'll probably go back to SC and make Tilda the Green Witch.

I'm not sure what thread to put this in, but regarding the success of the first movie: When I saw the first trailer for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (along with a lot of other people in front of the last Star Wars movie), I was amazed and taken in (granted I was already a fan of the series). When I saw the movie 7 months later I was generally pleased but a little let down (slightly) compared to my expectations based on the trailer. The trailer made it look very close to The Lord of the Rings in terms of quality. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe didn't quite measure up in story progression and with some of the special effects. I cannot help but wonder if that is why some people chose not to return to the theater for the next installment.

I'm just relating this to the financial success of each movie, a point in the topic of "which movie should be next?" I don't cite it as necessarily the number one reason, but I do think it is not negligible. Persuasive marketing will be paramount for the next film!

I was also let down by the theatrical version of the LWW. None of the Narnian movies have ever really enchanted me the way the Lord of the Rings movies did.

I really, really, really hope they don't use Tilda as the Lady of the Green Kirtle. I would not like that at all. BBC did that and even though she looked alittle different from the White Witch it made people think that they were the same person. I know there has been a discussion about this already but I believe that the White Witch and the Lady of the Green Kirtle are not the same person. To many differences in their characters. They need someone new to Narnia to play the Green Lady.

i think they should stick the original plan that disney used to have before they messed up, that is to make the rest of the movies in the order the books were published, another reason i think sc should be next is children age faster than adults....( e.g. harry potter... he looks like he is in his 20s by the last movie) if they go and make tmn next will poulter will be far too old to play eustace on the other hand tilda will look much the same in 3 years or so as she dose now....

just a thought..my opinion of it anyway....i mean i would like to see tmn made into a movie i think they should finish the ones with the kids and then go on to h&hb and tmn.....

am interested to see what others think on this matter too

I think SC is the obvious choice, but MN is a more tactical choice.

The big issue is, of course, having to recast Eustace or not, but keep in mind that Will Poulter was born in Jan 1993 - which made him 16 when VDT was filmed, 18 this year, and probably 19 during production of SC if that's next.

He's a youthful looking guy, but will already look noticeably older even if SC is next. He probably won't look too much different if SC is after MN.

i think, i'm actually about 99.999% sure that i will throw a fit if they have tilda as the green witch. as in literally throw whatever is near and handy at the whatever screen i see her face on.

also although i wanted Silver Chair to be next, MN is ok too because in SC Eustace seemed significantly older or at least more mature. So i figure that as long as they make the movies in quick succession it'll be fine. :)

I hope. :(

You folks are aware that there is a MN movie thread right? I keep in thinking there is a news update.

Soldier, wouldn't this be the appropriate place to discuss reasons for MN or SC next. What posts are you recommending be directed elsewhere? Everything seemed to be on topic to me.

I made a goof, look at my last post and I corrected myself :o
Sorry, that's what happens when your multi-tasking.

Since the previous 3 films were separated by 2-3 years at minimum, then somehow I doubt TSC, if they ever decide to make it, would be any closer to the release of TMN than the others were.
