Think of "generation ships":-- slower-than-light starships which need to provide the means for generations of pioneering populations to stay alive during centuries of isolation from the universe as a whole. The third or fourth generation might forget that there even WAS any universe outside their hull. Keir Dullea of "Space Odyssey" fame, and Walter Koenig from "Babylon Five," both delivered their usual excellent performances in "The Starlost." Nothing about my parody here implies disapproval of the premise or the actors. But the series was canceled before Dullea's character could figure out how to correct the ship's course before it flew directly into a star

Hence our premise. We'll start where Keir Dullea started in the show; thinking there isn't any outside...
