Up Pixar/Disney movie

It's not!!!!!! You definatly need to see it. It's not little-kiddy, really. It's quite smart, actually.

Yes, it's not little-kiddy, it's a cute movie with a lot of funny and cute parts (but also in my opinion more sad parts than the average Pixar movie, but still a good movie ;))

By far one of my favorite of all Pixar's movies! I really didn't know what to expect going in - the trailer didn't really give much away (which is how it is with most Pixar movies, and something I like quite a bit). The beginning was so sweet... actually the whole movie was. And I really loved the very end. That was perfect.
And the way they had the dogs speaking to show what they're thinking was so funny, but at the same time it really seemed believable, like that's what the dogs would be saying if they could actually talk.
I highly recommend it. :)

wonderful

It's probably another one of those overrated Pixar movies just like what Wall*E was. I'm not gonna see it. ( Actually, I never want to see another Disney movie again, especially after what happened with Narnia. >.> )

Caspian Girl,
Up, far from being over-rated, is a much much better film than Wall*E. It has heart, but it also has a plot to really care about and unforgettable characters that draw you into the experience of the story, instead of just sitting in a theater watching an animated movie. I cried twice, and even my husband said he was moved. It really touches on some huge themes: dreams, aging, death, honor, kindred spirits, heroes (and anti-heroes), survival, courage, and of course love. Oh yes --and demystifying dog psychology and humor. And you know how Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Totoro, etc) likes plugging environmental sanctity? This movie does it too but it's much more fun!

You won't hurt Disney a bit by not going, but you will miss out on a wonderful experience...

Did you hear about that 1o year old girl that got to see a dvd version of the movie just hours before she died of cancer. That was so sad.

I haven't seen it yet.

All Pixar films are good ones, with the possible exception of Bugs (it was the only one I didn't like).

But there appears to be a cycle of late with Pixar.

A really great film every 2 years and a good, but not great film inbetween. This is indicated by the amount of bonus material that appears on the dvd, the great films get a lot, the good ones, not so much.

Ratoutille was their last good film, WALL-E was their last great one, Newt (upcoming movie) is their next great film, which puts Up in the middle as a good film.

Still, I do plan to go see it, when it starts screening here. It hasn't started yet, maybe in a week or two, possibly.

I saw it last week. Whereas I love Pixar, and the majority of their movies are great, 'Up' wasn't AS good as some that I've seen. It's like it had great parts (the beginning especially), and then some parts that weren't as good. Overall it's way, way better than anything in theaters but it's not quite the best movie Pixar has made.

SPOILERS!

It's about an elderly man following the wish of his deceased wife to "have adventures" like a famous adventurer who was their contempory.

This adventurer is the "villian" of the piece, he's hunting a rare, assumed mythological bird, aided by an army of talking dogs.

The heroes of the movie are the old man, a stupid boy scout, a talking dog and the bird mentioned above.

Other then that, I don't know much more about it.

I heard many, MANY good reviews of Up, and I was really looking forward to seeing it. When I saw it, I liked it, of course. I mean, c'mon, it's Pixar! :D It has to be good. But it definitely didn't live up to my expectations. But, I wasn't really looking forward to seeing Wall-E a whole lot. I didn't have high expectations. But when I saw it, it totally blew me away, and now it's probably one of my favorite Pixar films. So, in the future, I'm just going to try to not have too high of expectations, and I might like movies a lot more. :)

I know I started this thread, but I hadn't sat down to watch the movie Up till last night. I am not a big Ed Asner since his Mary Tyler Moore days when he became such a outspoken socialist. I was touched by the start of the movie where it goes over the story of the old man and his wife. The rest of it wasn't that impressive. I liked Wall-E much more (great love story). I am looking forward to Toy Story 3. Always liked Tim Allen.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but I've read the screenplay.:D I do agree that most Pixar movies are better quality than certain other kids' movies that come out (you know, those stupid ones with no plot and tons of annoying crude humor.)

Well, OK. Cars I didn't like, and I thought Wall-E was rather boring.

I agree with The Spanish Inquisition ^^
I love that movie. The first time i saw it was in the US with my best friend. We were both laughing so hard at Alpha!!!:D:D:D

Our family just watched this today. I thought it was pretty good. It reminded me of The Rescuers Down Under in some parts.;)

I thought it was a pretty sweet movie, and I loved the way the silly dogs could talk, but otherwise they acted just like dogs; that was a nice touch, rather than making them just be human in their actions and dialog; they were still very doggie.
