Aw man, this is a tough one. Both made me laugh numerous times. A lot more Gimli and Legolas stuff in the extended versions.
I'll have to go with Merry and Pippen, though. It's just classic comic relief.
 
What about Boromir and Lurtz?

Gandalf and Saruman?
Saruman and Sauron?
