My point is not that I want to "convert" others to my view, but rather to explain my view and beg for people to stop attacking me because of that view.So my point is WHAT'S THE POINT?
And what about The Return of the King, the third film in The Lord of the Rings? Saruman only appears in the extended version where he is killed at Orthanc in the film, whereas in the book he dies at Bag End, in the Shire. Moreover, the film completely omits 'The Scouring of the Shire' which the author of the book himself described as "...an essential part of the plot, forseen from the outset..."
ROTK was criticized for having "too many endings". That was without the Scouring. Do you think that killing Saruman (who takes no part in that storyline) at the beginning rather than the end is worse than changing the entire plot of the film?
*note, the Scouring of the Shire is my favorite part of LOTR.
