Win free tickets, and a chance at the grand prize trip to London to see the film. You have to write less than 200 words about your favorite Narnia character.

Did you enter yet? If yes or no, post your entry in this thread so we can all read it. Here's mine:

"It isn't Narnia, you know, it's you."

Lucy Pevensie has just learned that she won't be returning to Narnia again after her adventure aboard the Dawn Treader. She begins to cry, embracing Aslan, and tells him that of course she could bear not returning to this special land ... if only she could be assured of seeing him again. Lucy, it seems to me, has the most beautiful understanding of what is truly important in Narnia (or anywhere): it is the Great Lion himself.

This makes Lucy my favorite character ... she knows the one she loves, and he is everything to her. I feel that she is an example to every believer -- hang streets of gold and gates of pearl, hang blessings and honor and power -- only one thing is needed: to sit at the feet of Jesus. It is He whose love makes hope shine brighter and brings life to Narnia, to earth, to heaven. Lucy gets it. She's my hero.

Aw, mine wasn't half so good as that! My entry about Puddleglum was only about 2 lines long...so I doubt it'll get picked. I don't even remember what I wrote though. :o

This is mine

My favorite character in The Chronicles of Narnia series is Eustace Scrubb. Eustace represents the sinner that is inside of all of us but also that God will forgive our sins. We are distracted from our faith by work, school, or possessions. When Eustace enters the cave and sees the gold he represents us when we put something a head of God in our lives. Eustace becomes a dragon because of the “greedy, dragonish thoughts in his heart”. When we put something a head of God we become like Eustace, ugly and dragonish.

By become a dragon Eustace came to realize how unkind he had been and how much he did care about those that were with him. But the reason Eustace is my favorite character is because of how Aslan changes him back into a boy. Eustace tries to “undress” himself but is unable to because we cannot remove our sin, only God can. Aslan tears away Eustace’s sin and then cleanses him in water (baptism). Eustace is my favorite character because through him Lewis shows that no matter what we do if we repent and are truly sorry God will forgive us and wipe away out sin.

Beautiful work, everyone! It would be so exciting if one of us from TDL wins! :D Whoever does will have to keep a thread of updates about their time at the Premiere. :)

Nice Oxford Girl! I love it!

AK, I bet yours was good -- you can just tell us on here why he is your favorite. I like PG too.

Does anyone know:

1. Will they judge based on the essay, or are they just going to do a drawing? I don't know how they could read the thousands of essays!

2. Can you enter again each week? I know there are weekly winners, but I didn't know if you could try again if you didn't win the first week.

Even if you don't enter, you can post here about your favorite character in 200 words or less (I know a lot of us here aren't old enough to enter, but you could write your entry and get your mum or dad to submit it).

I don't know how that works...the second part of the entry was detailing why you'd like to attend the movie premiere of Dawn Treader, so that was the majority of my entry.

I'd like to know how it works though.

And Puddleglum has been my favorite for a while because 1: inside, he can be funny, 2: he's overly cautious, but often right, and 3: his loyalty to Aslan is unshakable. When the Green Witch tells them that there is no such person as Aslan, he stands his ground and refuses to accept that.

Well, from what I've read in the rules it says that the essays will be judged by a panel of judges, so it sounds like the essay is a big factor. I don't think it's totally at random and that's probably why they have yet to post the results for Week 1. Also, it sounds like there can only be one entry per person for the entire contest period. I don't think they allow essays from the same person on multiple weeks, but I'm not quite sure. Is there any way of contacting them to ask?

I like your description of Puddleglum, Aravis. :) That was such a unique choice for a favorite character! Very good. :D

Hmmm... it stills looks as if the Focus on the Family results for Week 1 have yet to be posted. I entered on Week 2, but I really want to see if some of my fellow TDL friends have won. :)

i read the rules - it says they wil notify winners by phone ... but i wasn't sure if they meant weekly winners or just the grand prize winner. i would certainly like to see someone from TDL win! :)

Hmmm... well, I just read the rules and it said, "The names of the weekly winners will be posted on the Contest website the following week."
I'm sure they definitely notify them by phone too. :) I wonder when they'll post the first results. :D So exciting!

So will the following week be next week, for the first week of the contest? I wonder when, like the end of the week? I know, it is very exciting!

From what I read in the rules it made it sound like the results from Week 1 would be posted either today or tomorrow, but I still don't see anything yet. Maybe there are really working hard on judging the essays, which is a good sign that they're not just picking at random. :)

Reepicheep

[Here is my entry]

When I was in fourth grade in the 60’s my teacher spent the minutes after lunch recess reading through the Chronicles of Narnia to us. It was then that I fell in love with Reepicheep, the gallant, dashing, astute and valiant visionary in Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Last Battle. Especially in the Dawn Treader I loved his magnanimous spirit in befriending the dastardly Eustace who had formerly been his tormentor when that boy turned into a dragon… I loved his ready gallantry as he offered his sword at a moment’s notice to defend the honor of others (dead or alive) … and I loved his single minded passion to fulfill his destiny, his personal quest to seek out Aslan’s Country even if that meant hurtling forever off the edge of the world.

In anticipation of the movie release, my daughter and I have been reading VODT together. Even though she has Down syndrome she has been eagerly persevering through it, and has announced her favorite character is Reepicheep too. What an inspiration he is to her! Going to see it with her for the premiere would be a dream come true for us both.

What a great contest!

I just entered the contest. Thankyou for sharing this. I think it is good to enter every contest I can.

This was my entry.

I would like to attend the world premiere because I have been a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia my entire life. As a young child my dad would read the books to me. I grew up listening to the Focus on the Family Radio Theater CDs and have loved them. I am such a dedicated fan that I even have a Narnia email address. I am excited anticipating the premiere of the new movie. If I win I hope to bring my mother with me because she loves England and would be blessed by a chance to join me for the trip.
My favorite character from the Voyage of the Dawn Treader is Reepicheep. He embodies the main theme of the book which is the journey of adventure to find Aslan’s country and discover the edge of the world. His honor and chivalry is an example of what it takes to be a true knight of Narnia. This is a characteristic that inspires me. I also admire his unrelenting bravery. I have been a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia my entire life and Reepicheep is my favorite character because of his high standards of honor and bravery.

Nice entries Benisse and NE!

OK, I thought the form just asked you what was your favorite character; but AK said it also asked why you wanted to attend the premiere, and that's how NE answered, too. I may have missed that part of the instructions! I hope I don't get ruled out because of it. :(

My husband entered, too, but he did not save his entry. He put King Frank for his favorite because he was just a normal guy and even told Aslan he didn't think he'd be any good at being king, but Aslan told him if he could work hard, be fair and defend Narnia from enemies then he would be a good king ... :)

I don't think so. I rea the rules and got the idea you could enter only once. Did they post the winners from last week yet?
