When he lived in the US, Tate established a career as a voiceover man for film trailers. It began with Jurassic Park and during his time in California, he found that his voiceover commitments precluded time to audition for acting roles, though he has worked on JAG, The X-Files, Party of Five, Murder She Wrote and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, among others.
