There are seven books in the series. Disney is going to make a franchise out of these. The presentation focused on the history of the books. We do get to see the children. One photo of the White Witch with icicles out of the top of her head, sort of like a crown. WETA will be doing the creatures in this one. That’s great news. They showed a short animatic of a possible CG battle. If you can picture the Battle at Pelennor Fields from ROTK with minotaurs, centaurs, and griffins, that’s what it looked like.

The panel featured Howard Berger (the B of KNB EFX), Dean Wright (visual effects designer), Richard Taylor and Ben Wootten (Weta peeps) live and in person and later featured director Andrew Adamson and all four of the kids from the movie via satellite. They were in London doing ADR (Addition Dialog Recording) for the film, but took the time to sit in on the panel discussion.

Weta Cave’s “Narnia Day” set for Sunday
Weta recently opened its “Weta Cave” to give visitors something cool to see when they make the journey to the gentle neighborhood in Wellington where one of the world’s most important film special effects houses sits. This Sunday the already must-visit destination is the site of a pretty incredible afternoon celebrating the New Zealand release of “Prince Caspian.”
