Twentieth Century Fox and Walden Media will release “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” on December 10, 2010.
The move means “Narnia” will once again be a winter franchise, and places it a day past the five year anniversary of the release of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005.
Twentieth Century Fox recently partnered with Walden on the “Narnia” film series after Disney and Walden parted ways. It was an easy fit, since Walden Media and Fox have a partnership under the Fox Walden banner. Disney was the publicity, financial support and distributor for the first two “Narnia” films. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe debuted in December 2005 and cumed $291.7 million domestically.
Prince Caspian was released last May to less spectacular results, cuming $141.2 million at the North American box office. Walden and Fox believe “Narnia” is better suited for a December release.
As of now, “Dawn Treader” has the 2010 date to itself. Let the countdown begin!

i hav been a great fan of this mov since my childhood hope its scores way better den “harry potter”.
make us proud W/F!!!!
VODT has always been my favorite of the books by far, the one I’ve read more than any other. I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time — I’m 42, I first read the Magician’s Nephew when I was in first grade (that’s my 2nd favorite)
I can’t wait. I didn’t know that Disney was stepping aside. I hope that doesn’t put some parents off, and for that matter, I hope they still give it a kid-friendly rating. I hope they don’t gear it towards kids only though. I love the books, and the flicks have been great, too! I read them all when I was in 3rd and 4th grade, and I started reading them all over again recently (I’m almost 32 now). I’m just starting VoTDT now and I’m remembering how much I liked it. I’m so glad they’re making these movies. C.S. Lewis is still my favorite author to this day!! I love The Screwtape Letters (John Cleese audio book is hillarious) and wish they would make that into a movie, too. I could go on and on, but I’ll stop. Looking forward to the film.
I hope a better job is done on this movie than PC. The first was almost completely true to the book with only a couple of understandable differences but PC should have said “loosely based on the book by C. S. Lewis.” I hope that VDT holds true to the book. I have been reading this series for almost three decades and will start reading them to my grandson as soon as I can.
Prince Caspian was a great movie. All you people criticizing it because it is not exactly like the book are crazy. It was way better than the first one. The first one was good but it took a long time for the movie to get going. The first half hour of the first one was kind of boring but it got better as the movie went along. The second one was exciting from beginning to end, I am sure the third one will be the best one yet.
I can hardly wait. I loved the first two as much as my wife and kids did. I hope they are going to use the same two actors that were in the first two. I will let my kids know and the count down will begin.
I’ve read all the Narnia books at least 6 times. I hope all the books get movies made of them. I would love to see. The Horse and His Boy. I also hope to see the same actors and actresses playing their same parts.
They are just doing LLW PC VODT TSC and The Last Battle.
I wish they would do the other two too
I don’t know where you got this information, but I know for a fact that it is currently not even set in stone which one they will do next.
Well it’s not fair ive been told last year voyage of the dawn treader won’t be released until may 6 2010 but Walden Media is right it should come in december it will feel magical like the first one when it came out during christmas. I guess that’s how Lewis would have liked it.
Dear shawn,
It’s possible that all of the children will be in the the last battle movie because they’re all in the last book.
dear renata…
it’s impossible…because..Peter, Edmund and Luci got accident in the train together with their mother and prof. kirke..so imposible that will together in last part of the book or movie of it…maybe it’s mention it in “The Silver Chair”…
i can’t wait!!!!!! the first two were great! i’m not sure what this one’s going to be like because i think there’s a different director i really hope no one changes the actors or actresses they did a great job!:)
i’m so excited!!!! 😀 the first two movies were amzing and so acurate to the books, which i was very impressed by. but, the voyage of the dawn treader was always my favorite book. cannot wait for december 10 2010!
Remember Susan isn’t in the last one. Only mentioned.
i sooooo cant wait for this one to come out!!!!!!!! i totally love the 1st two ( the 2nd one a bit better)… oooh!!!
do you think it comes out on 10/12/10 in all countries? dont the release dates vary?
can i please ask if “the magic nephew” is part of the chronicles of narnia, or what order do the book go in???
QueenAnna: “The Magician’s Nephew” is indeed part of the Chronicles. Lewis wrote it sixth I believe, and yet it looks back to when Narnia came into existence – therefore, some prefer to call The Magician’s Nephew the first in the series. I believe the books were written in this order:
1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
2. Prince Caspian
3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
4. The Silver Chair
5. The Horse and His Boy *
6. The Magician’s Nephew
7. The Last Battle
* Horse and His Boy is set during the Golden Age of Narnia when the Pevensies were kings and queens.
when is the Voyage of the Dawn Treader Date here in the Philippines? is it the same…?
also on Dec 10 2010?
love seeing the chronicles come to life in these movies and not just in my imagination.
cant wait for it. ive have been inspired by the films( old ones 1990’s) the new ones( 2005 till now) and the books
Can’t wait to see this movie, I am glad they are keeping the same actors!! It just messes up movies when they don’t use the original actors in sequals. I am really looking forward to seeing this movie; so far I have not been disappointed in either ones that I have saw!! I hope the Silver Chair is next!!!!!!!
Two of my daughters just watched the previews- we can’t wait to go on opening weekend!
