Interview with Michael Apted

BleedingCool has posted a brief interview with Michael Apted, director of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.”

Apted discusses some production issues, his approach to the film, and the “odd” experience of filming VDT’s final Narnian scene.

Bleeding Cool also comments on the film’s 3-D, saying:

“The 3D conversion is relatively unobtrusive, and certainly stays well clear of the dreaded Clash of the Titans realm of botchery, but I do feel that some opportunities to use the stereo-optic toolkit more creatively and persuasively have been missed. There’s one or two highlights in the 3D however, and even something very innovative…”

  1. Michael, i loved the 3D, u did a great job. It wasn’t too obvious and gimmicky. It added some depth to the film. I just came back from the advanced screening of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Wonderful movie. Two thumbs up!

  2. well, it looks interesting! Just can’t wait for this movie! I wish I was seeing it tomorrow instead of next Saturday! 🙁

  3. I wonder if the mentioned “innovative” 3D segment has to do with the characters that are supposedly 3D-exclusive.

  4. Turned off on the idea that the movie is no longer a Christian theme, but mer just one of a “open-spiritual” element with it. This series is the most down to earth biblical story collection of symbolism in the whole world, and now it is just a fantasy film. I hope this director is cut from the Silver Chair as he said “if they do it” and they put a director in place who is on a Christian platform to direct the vision of the film, so that it doesn’t clash with the vission and purpose of the books.

  5. I have just watched The voyage of the Dawn Treader and I would love to ask Michael Apted if he has tried to make any of the other Nania stories particularly the Last battle?
    Thanks
