The Richard and Julia Wilke Institute for Discipleship and BeADisciple.com announce an online workshop entitled “Crowning ‘Prince Caspian’: An Evangelism and Discipleship Growth Opportunity,” geared towards clergy and lay people in the Church. The Disney film version of the second installment of C.S. Lewis’ classic “The Chronicles of Narnia” premieres as a summer blockbuster in mid-May 2008. This workshop will familiarize participants with the original literary work by C. S. Lewis, and offer creative ideas for church and ministry events based around the new film’s release. It will also include: exploration of resources pertaining to “Prince Caspian;” suggestions to include unreached people; and activities to encourage discipleship growth within your membership.
By the end of this workshop, participants should have a set of plans that will introduce and celebrate “Prince Caspian” through outreach and /or discipleship events customized for the ministry setting they serve.
The “Caspian” workshop is being offered by the Rev. Dr. Gary Olsen of Rolling Hills Community Church of Lago Vista, TX. Gary has served congregations as an ordained pastor for 25 years. At his current post, a unique union church chartered in four mainline denominations (CCDC, PCUSA, UCC, and UMC), he has developed an occasional seminar series entitled “Theater and Theology” taking closer looks at concerts, plays, film previews, and classic movie screenings before attending the events together. This “Crowning Prince Caspian” workshop uses the process of preparing “Theater and Theology” events to show participants how to produce their own ministry opportunities surrounding the “Prince Caspian” summer release.
The workshop will be offered online April 21-May 2, 2008. The cost of the workshop is $95, and 100% of the workshop fee stays in ministry. Online workshops avoid travel expenses such as food, lodging, air fare, and gasoline. To enroll in the workshop, visit www.BeADisciple.com.
