Prince Caspian rides into the sunset at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Saturday marked the end of the Hollywood Studios meet-and-greet with Prince Caspian from the Chronicles of Narnia movie series. The prince was stationed in a small room adjacent to the Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian exhibit.

From Daily Disney: If Disney ended the meet-and-greet because of a lack of visitors to the gracious prince, the fault lies partly with the promotion (or lack thereof) of the prince’s presence. Signage was rather minimal at the entrance to the attraction: there are 2 queues, one marked “and meet Prince Caspian”; the other for the attraction only.On Friday, guests did not seem to even notice the sign for the queue leading to the prince. Most were in “theme-park-herd” mentality and were rushing to the attraction-only queue because other people were in that line, which is closer to the door.

Also curiously, the wait time was listed as shorter for the attraction-only line. Yet those people were standing outside in the cold, waiting for the doors to open, while I walked right in to see Prince Caspian — no line, no wait.

A cast member out in front, directing guests, and telling them there was no wait at all (contrary to what the sign said) to meet Prince Caspian would have gone a long way to boosting his guests. As it was, I spent a pleasant five minutes with him discussing his homeland: I’m a big fan of Narnia, having read all the books from “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” on during my youth.

Though the Prince will no longer be available for photos, the attraction will continue to operate, Disney says.

Did you get a chance to meet ‘Prince Caspian’?

  1. AWWW DANG IT!!!!! I wanted to see him. Ahh well, least the attraction’s still open! =3

  2. We actually got to visit the attraction last year. My then almost 4-year-old son, who is an avid fan of the Chronicles, was ecstatic to see him……….the actor was very kind and talked with him for quite a while when the pictures were snapping away. Too bad they have discontinued it……I agree, there was not much promotion or information about the attraction in the Park at all. We half stumbled upon it by luck.

  3. I wouldn’t blame the signage. I’d blame the attraction itself. It’s not worth checking out unless you’re a die-hard Narnia fanatic. It was really neat seeing the props and costume close-up.

    • Indeed, I agree. It wasn’t too great an attraction. Merely having a footage montage and then a quick exit isn’t good enough.. a short break from the heat, but that’s it. It would have been better if it was something more interactive.

  4. what? that’s stupid if it was some actor dude, why would you want to see him when he’s not the original prince caspian?

  5. I had the opportunity to see Caspian and it sucked. The caspian I saw was chinese! wtf!
Its good to know they ended it.

  6. I wish I want to meet a real caspian (ben barnes) in journey into narnia to visits here at Disney World. I don’t trust that guy from Journey Into Narnia for walkthrough or regular meet & greet from that Fake Caspian. Real one is better from Movie Actor.
