The Biola Media Conference homepage (http://www.biolamedia.com/) has a scrolling list of updates from conference attendees. Here’s some of what has been said about the VDT footage that premiered today:
“Saw the world premiere of footage from Voyage of the Dawn Treader and it looks great.”
“Just got a first look at the new Chronicles of Narnia film the Voyage of the Dawn Treader! Looks like its gonna be impressive!”
“New Narnia rough trailer was great!!”
And my personal favorite:
“Just got escorted out of conf. By badged men cause they thought I was bootlegging Voyage of the Dawn Treader trailer!”
Stay tuned for spy reports…or send one if you were at the conference!
[Editor’s Note: This is the same footage that I saw earlier this year. I’m happy that so many have been impressed by the footage. -Paul]
I looked through all of the comments and every one of them was positive! 🙂
…Should I be wishing that they really DID bootleg it?
I’m so excited for this movie, it’s crazy.
lol me too. i totally want to see it…cant…wait…much…longer…going…insane…
Whoo! I just have to shout out that Biola’s my school in about five months. =]
This is exciting, I can’t wait to see the trailer. I’m sure VotDT will be a breath of fresh air after Prince Caspian.
Saw the trailer at Biola. It was great. It might be the best movie of the lot. Parts of the trailer are still in post production; green pants were visible. First scene: The trio are in Lucy’s room, Lucy looks in the painting, the sea starts to move, water comes out of the painting, Eustice pulls the painting off the wall, water floods the house, the trio swim out of the house into the sea, they surface to see the Dawn Treader coming right to them. The next part that I remember is Lucy, Edmund and Caspian wondering why the trio was called to Narnia. Next was a small part about the fate of Narnia depending on the ship reaching Ramandu’s Island. A star was shooting through the sky. I am not clear what was going on. This was just a taste not a bite. Next were Lucy and Gael laying on their beds talking. Geal: “When I grow up I want to be like you.” Lucy: “When you grow up you want to be like you.” Lucy then reassures Gael that they will find Gael’s mother. Next was a small scene with Eustice trying to talk to a seagull and the Narnians making fun of him trying to talk to a bird. There was a brief sene of Dark Island. There was a good scene of Lucy in the Magic Room. Beautiful set. Aslan fast forwards Lucy through the book. Lucy says a spell and Susan appears in the window. Yes, Anna Popplewell makes an appearance. There is a scene with Ramandu’s daughter saying her prayers. Quites spectacular. At the end is a small scene from the end of the movie with Aslan saying “In your world I am known be a different name …” That seemed to be right out of the book with a little different set. The trailer ends with the standard trailer ending, except that it’s water instead of snow or trees.
Seeing the trailer was worth flying in to see it. The trailer was about two and a half minutes. Fox is really paranoid about it leaking. People were watching us with IR glasses. I understand the Fox might be worried. It was a major accomplishment that Fox trusted us. I am glad that I saw it and can not wait for more. I can now breath easier about VDT.
Awesome, Roger! That’s the same one that I saw a while back, but sounds like they might have removed some of the things that I saw from that one.
They said that this was a never seen before trailer. That does not mean that they could have trimmed scenes from a previous trailer. I hope that you were as excited about the movie after seeing a trailer as I am now.
No questions were taken from the audience, but it was a good interview. The interview was about how Walden got started and almost nothing about the movie. The main thing they said about the trailer was how hard it was for them to get the go from Fox. Every frame from the trailer was marked “Biola Media Conf”. Nothing was said about trailer releases. Fox got burned last year about leaks from a movie and will probably keep things close to their chest until fall. I expect nothing until fall or at least until the movie is done. The movie is still in post production. What are you thoughts about this, Paul?
Well, I’ve seen what you described, though they may have sharpened the trailer a bit and left some things out. No description so far has mentioned everything that I saw. Surely this version was never seen before, but that can be said, and true, if it’s a different cut, even though it covers the same material that has been screened before.
As for the first true trailer for the film, I’ve heard some things, but I cannot confirm or deny anything at this point. I just know that something is being assembled as we speak (as typically happens during post-production, which is why we sometimes see shots that aren’t in the final cut). I have it on good authority that it will be sometime between May and December of this year. 😉 I wish I could say more, but at this point, the release of the trailer is liquid.
Very interesting report, Roger. Great to hear Anna will make an appearance. I had wondered if they would use that scene to bring her back. I wonder if they CGI-ed her (like the White Witch in Caspian) or if they shot some special footage of her. Of course, what we’re really wondering is whether she and William Moseley will make cameos at the beginning of the film. (They are mentioned in the first few pages of the book.)
thanks for the review!! i can’t what to see it. this movie is going to be a hit!!
I cannot wait! i had no idea another movie was in the works. wish they’d do movies for all the books but… this one was awesome to read… esp where they travel to Aslan’s country. When does it come out?
December 10, 2010! The footage is beautiful. Wait until you see.
The footage was NOT what was shown by Apted, Flaherty, Gresham, and co. last month. Micheal Flaherty made sure to clarify that numerous times.
Anna Popplewell makes an apearance? Are you serious?
That’s great news!
Can’t wait to see the footage 🙁
Who is Gael?
Carl, Gael in the “mysterious little girl” who was seen on the set. This site and NarniaWeb.com have been reporting on this for quite some time. Here is a link to a previous article here: https://narniafans.com/archives/8151
Does anyone know when the trailer will be available to the public?
Anna was there? OMG… so mayby William will be too 😛
I want to watch it so much…
Wow, very cool! Thanks Roger, for telling us all that. I was dying to hear about it. 🙂 Sounds like the cameo of Anna is spot on!
This is wonderfull news! I can’t believe they made Anna in it! That is going to draw people from Caspian to see it. Also I laughed so hard about Eustace trying to talk to a seagull!
Oh why can’t it be December yet? I’m willing to give up my summer for this! 🙂
oh this is SO COOL!!! i can’t wait!!! and i am absolutely ecstatic that anna is making an appearance!!! i sure hope william will be in there somewhere!!!! december can’t come fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super cool dudes! So excited for the movie! I’m thinking about not watching the trailer when it comes out, so that when I see the movie, I’ll be super surprised! Oh yeah… how do I get a little picture in the upper left corner on my message box?
I’m a fan of this. But still waiting for a trailer we all can see. 😛
I’m hoping that William will make a cameo at VDT as well. Fingers crossed.
I’m hopping Gael will be a necessary character rather than a nuisance.
I can’t really say anything, but she won’t be a nuisance. There is enough of a nuisance in Eustace that they didn’t need to create another one.
By saying “I hope Gael won’t be a nuisance”, I meant I hope Gael will be a character that Lewis would be proud of. I just want Narnia 3 to be amazing, and it sounds like it will be.
To fill in a few details.
The scene with Susan was very nice. I left a small detail out of the description because I do not want to ruin it. Nice closure. The view of Susan was a window on a page in the magic book. It could have been CG’ed, but I think not. There is a lot they did not show. The magic room looks like a central part of the story as it should be.
I did not see Peter.
The sets were fabulous. I saw nothing cheap in the designs. A top-notch production.
Gael looks like a great add to the script. Quit touching. A good moral lesson. I liked the interaction between Lucy and Gael. This way Lucy is not the only female on the ship.
The end will be very sad just like the book.
Eustace is the butt of some jokes. The Narnians were part of the humor too,
The Biola Media Conference was a lot of fun. I am not a media person; I am an engineer but still enjoyed myself. Everyone was friendly, and the sessions were interesting. It is aimed at not only big media but also media for a local church. I highly recommend May 7 of next year. The conference is aimed at Christians, but you do not have to be one to be welcome. Everyone was welcoming. Some of the speakers were studio heads.
Walden is very behind Narnia. Fox appears very behind Narnia. In both cases business is business. These times are hard on studios. Some of the sessions at Biola pointed this out.
I hope that I am not too verbose, but I think we have much to look forward to.
Thanks for sharing and also the added details, Roger. 🙂
Roger, how was the music for the trailer? Did Aslan roar at the end, as in the trailers for LWW and PC?
The music has not been done. We heard music from previous films.
that is great news! Anna is in the movie! wooow that made my day,I’m ashamed to admit that I gave up on the idea of her coming back but I was wrong and I’m happy to be wrong -I’ve never said that before lol- and it would be great if they kept the element of comedy to thais Sequel too because I loved it in Prince caspian.
thank you both paul & Roger.
can’t wait for the trailer to come out. Roger said, “the fate of Narnia depends on the Dawn treader reaching Ramandu’s Island” is that from the book?
No, this is a plot point added to the film. I have no impression yet as to if is good or neutral. I was favorable impressed with them adding Gael. Please give them the benefit of a doubt at this point. What I saw was outstanding. Like many of you, I can’t wait.
I hope the tralier will come out sone! I really like it how susan will made it in the film. when will it come out. Please tell me!!!
Did anyone notice if Lucy wore any dresses. Sorry, I love costumes.
The trailer sounds great! For anyone who is interested, narniaweb.com gives a detailed run-down of the trailer. I’ve read it twice now! No footage, mind you! Only seven months to go, Narnia fans!
wow!! i’m tottaly excited!!!
well, actually i’m hopping for anna to be ramandu’s daugter that is going to married caspian, since he probably looking for someone that looks like queen susan… hahahahha
RD is going to marry Caspian. it’s in the book!
I am so happy! yay!
