Cinesite Winners of its Inspire Internship Program to work on Dawn Treader

Cinesite, one of the world’s leading film visual effects houses, today announced that Chris Mulcaster and Alex Betancourt have both won places on its Inspire Program, the company’s annual internship program which was launched in January. The two successful applicants beat off more than 250 submissions to claim the placements, which will run for six weeks during the summer.

Chris Mulcaster graduated from Portsmouth University last year after completing a BA in Computer Animation as well as a 12-week Visual Effects course at Escape Studios in London. He was chosen because of the high quality skills he demonstrated as a general artist, with Cinesite commenting on his exceptional modeling and texturing talent.

Alex Betancourt is due to graduate from Bournemouth University in June with a BA in Computer Visualization and Animation. He was chosen because of the confident lighting and shader writing work he conveyed throughout his showreel. Both winners will now go on to work on Cinesite’s upcoming projects including Fox/Walden’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Disney/Pixar’s John Carter of Mars.

Antony Hunt, managing director of Cinesite, said, “We were truly overwhelmed by the number of applications we received and the standard of showreels submitted. I’d like to welcome Chris and Alex to our team and hope that they enjoy their time with us and get some great experience out of this placement. We’ll be running the Inspire Program again next year and hope to continue to grow it year-on-year as it’s a great way for us to find, grow and nurture new talent.”

  1. Is there any news if these two are huge Narnia fans? In other words, are they some of NarniaFans or NarniaWeb frequent users? We’d love to hear from them!!!
