Group is releasing a Vacation Bible School curriculum this summer that features clips from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Last week I received a phone call asking if it was alright to delay it. In my neighborhood there is a family that does a VBS program and I volunteer at a church that also does one, so it would have been helpful to have it in time. I said that it was okay to ship it later, though, as I’d rather have what I ordered than not. Plus it may come in handy later for meetings.
An e-mail was also sent out saying:
As you know, this product incorporates never-before-seen movie clips from the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movie “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, scheduled to release in December of 2010. Since there is so much excitement about this movie, and such devoted Narnia followers, the film makers have asked us to keep our product out of circulation so the movie clips don’t end up online.
While it would have been really nice to have it for VBS, I understand the reasoning for it. Especially considering they are still editing the movie, and there might be scenes from the film that are edited for the disc that end up changing with test screenings. Different edits of the scenes are always possible, and the music that accompanies scenes won’t be complete in time. Things are bound to change. It’s the nature of filmmaking. I, for one, don’t mind, though it is unfortunate and a lot of publicity is lost because of this delay. What do you think?
The leader pack now ships on August 16th.
where is this narnia vbs?
Actually, Fun-For-The-Whole-Familyi Hour isn’t a Narnia VBS. It’s a one-hour, all-church event that uses clips from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as a springboard for activity, discussion, and faith-building. Fun-For-The-Whole-Family Hour features music, drama, eye-opening family discussions, and a unique water-reveal map that will keep families laughing and growing together.
