An estimated 20 city children, teenagers and adults combined, engaged in a group discussion about the seven books in the famous “The Chronicles of Narnia” series with Monday night’s meeting putting emphasis on “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

The life and writings of C.S. Lewis, the acclaimed British author whose work ranges from fantasy to spiritual treatises, will be celebrated at Connecticut College on Monday, Feb. 27, with afternoon tea, a lecture and discussion.

That is the verdict of Britain’s librarians who have voted The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, the most important book a child can read.

A lion offering his own life on a stone altar and then coming to life again to help save a kingdom is part of the story line in the C.S. Lewis book, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. While it may sound like a Christian allegory, that may not be the case.

A rare first edition collection of CS Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia is expected to fetch £10,000 when it goes up for sale at a major art and antiques fair at the National Exhibition Centre later this week.

Belfast’s link with CS Lewis, brought to life for visitors through a new guide to his haunts across the city and beyond, is proving to be a “phenomenal” hit with locals and visitors alike, according to the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

The hit movie Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe has clearly renewed interest in the classic novels by C.S. Lewis. Terapeak Marketplace Research, a research firm specializing in the eBay platform, reports that The Chronicles of Narnia jumped 51 spots to number one on their Hot 100 eBay book list.
