I think Tolkien wrote Hobbit last, after the trilogy. Besides, The HObbit isn't as popular as the trilogy, so there was no reason to make it first. Who would see it? I know I wouldn't.

Also, you need to say that the links you've posted lead to a trailer that is fan-made, not official. I may not be entirely up to date on all Hobbit news, but I would know if there was an official trailer released, and those videos on the hobbitblog are FAN made, not made by the cast and crew. Just might want to mention that. ;)

There's going to be a 4th LOTR movie? Man!! I need to start watching them, I haven't even seen any of them! (Unless if you count the little bit of RotK that I saw on TNT once. )

No need to yell; she's probably not all that familiar with the stories. I didn't know there was a prequel to LotR until I spotted it at the library several years ago.

Hey don't apologize for correcting; I wasn't sure anyways. ;)

and Mozart, it DID sound like you were yelling at CaspianGirl. That's how it came across to me and I wasn't being addressed.

NO NOT FOURTH LOTR. THE PROLUGE TO LOTR. THE HOBBIT IS NOT PART OF THE LOTR TRILOGY (Trilogy means THREE).
Actually, technically, the LOTR is six books published within three volumes (Hence: Fellowship of the Ring = Part 1, The Two Towers = Part 2, and Return of the King = Part 3. And no--I'm not obsessed at all. :p)...Tolkien didn't really intend for it to be a trilogy. :p;)

I'm really excited about The Hobbit since it was the first Tolkien book I ever read. Its always been one of my favorites. :D

I Loved the hobbit when I was a kid . It was my favorite . I saw the animated tv movie when i was a kid in 1977 I was 7 years old. I have it in my movie collection. I cant wait to see it Im glad they decided to make a movie along with the lord of the rings. :D.

according to wikipedia the lord of the rings began as a seqeual to the hobbit so the hobbit was written first. i put the link here if you would like to read it.

I don't think that Tolkien had planned to right LOTR. It was just going to be The Hobbit and I think the Silmarillion. But the publishers wanted him to write more because The Hobbit was so popular. I could be wrong though.

Wikipedia isn't always accurate because it's written by fans....my suggestion for more official news would be to go to the Tolkien official website (if there is one)

I agree with Aravis. Don't always depend on wikipedia. Even though it's pretty accurate at some points it's still written by fans. So check the official site for more information.

And yes....if a certain Elf is making his comeback :D

A lot of schools discredit work if research is done through Wikipedia because it's not always accurate...I've made the mistake of basing some of my facts off wikipedia then finding out later it's edited and made by fans.

Actually, almost ANYONE can go and write stuff on wikipedia.

It's good for finding out a quick general idea of the topic you are looking up, but for research, you are better off somewhere else.
