I agree with you, Soldier of Aslan...to be honest, I think it any of the movies would turn into a costly venture simply because it's fantasy...and I also would love to see any and all of the books made into films...BUT at this point, I think SC would be the only logical next choice...the fact that they already introduced Eustace to us makes it easier to just transition right into SC..they went to the trouble of mentioning Jill Pole...also, it would continue in the way Lewis wrote them...I just really don't see how making MN next would make any sense. I sure do hope SC comes next...

Yes, SC makes the most sense, and then if that still does the same Box Office intake of VDT, make HHB. Both are very low on effects. MN & LB are very effects heavy stories. I'm afraid if Fox makes MN and it doesn't make returns due to a bloated budget, they may can the series. Plus audiences are still a bit wary with Narnia after PC, I think we need to stick with characters they are already familiar with. SC is the next logical (like you said) due to Eustace. Then HHB because the Pevs are featured (albeit as adults). If the jump into a story without well know characters (MN) they may not feel motivated to see it.

All that you said is perfectly logical, but I've also heard that the book MN is actually preferred of SC, so that might offset the loss. I still think it's more logical to do SC next, I'm just saying this for the sake of argument. :p

Arguments are fun ;), but for the sake of them...

MN may be preferred but remember that most people haven't read more than LWW and so base their ideas off these. Many people I talk too think that the stories are written by the studio.

SC then MN then HHB then LB because by the time they get to HHB the kids who played the Pevensies are the right age to play themselves again. Same idea for LB because all of them will be closed enough to the right age. I don't want them to get new adult actors for the Pevensies.

Me either. I'm also hoping they do LB last. It's been bugging me that because Jill and Eustace appear in LB they may use that due to the 'familiar characters'. I can just see the people leaving the theater going "But Didn't they DESTROY Narnia in the last one?". Now that being said, It does seem highly unlikely. both Polly and Digory appear in LB, which would confuse people if MN was last.

MissReep, all the Narnia fans' polls have shown that most fans want SC made next, and not TMN. While most fans probably prefer TMN over TSC in terms of a favorite book, I think that most fans realize that TSC is the third book in the "trilogy" of books, and should be made next.

I understand. :) I too voted for the moviemakers to do SC next. Like I said, my post was only for the sake of argument. :p I do think they should do SC next, although I'll be content either way.

I definitely think they should do SC next. It'll be much better for continuation, etc. Plus, we wouldn't want Will P. to get too old! He made an amazing Eustace. :)

Aren't Polly & Digory old in LB? I wonder if they would use the same actor they used in LWW as the professor, since he is Digory & looked old in LWW...

That's Jim Broadbent. I'm sure they'd use him. It would tie things together beautifully.

Yes, but the Audience (who mostly have only read LWW), would not understand who Polly is and how the heck the old Professor got to Narnia.

Kirke and Polly would be older, but not as old as they would be in, say, LWW. Remember, Jill says to Polly, "Why, I don't believe you're any older than we are."

There is a scene where all the friends of Narnia are gathered together. This is before anyone goes to the new Narnia. This is when Eustace and Jill go to help King Tirian. Wouldn't Digory (Professor Kirke) be older in this scene than he was in LWW?

Yes and the main difference that Digory and Polly notice is being unstiffened. I always imagined that they still looked like them but without the grey and maybe fewer wrinkles.

This should be a no brainer, to be honest. Because the Silver Chair is set fairly soon after the Voyage (in real time, of course, not Narnian time), they can't let one of the main characters, Eustace (Will Poulter), cannot get very much noticeably older. It'll be almost as bad as Harry Potter, where he's in his 20s playing a 17 year old. Yes, make-up helps, but it's more authentic when the actors are roughly the right age to play the characters in the books.

In any case, Silver Chair completes the Caspian trilogy, so to have two Caspian movies in a row, then randomly insert the Magicians Nephew, and finally put another Caspian book in... that's juts confusing and illogical.

Anyway, it just makes sense.

Yes, but there is also another scene in which Tirian meets the Pevensies, Eustace, Jill, Polly, and Digory when he goes into the stable. THAT is what I was referencing, not the dinner scene, though I do think that Polly and Digory would be older in that scene than they would be in LWW.

Yes, we are just debating for the sake of debating. It does make sense doing SC next but Hollywood isn't exactly logical. I bet we can expect MN after SC as the recent death of Narnia's producer , might lead his favorite book into film as a kind of dedication.

That's the truth! *dies laughing* :D:D:D:D

I don't think it would be a good idea to release a Narnian movie about magic rings anytime close to the release of "The Hobbit." Do "The Silver Chair" first. Then a few years later, do "The Magician's Nephew."

This is one reason especially. I really felt Will did a great job of brining Eustace to life. I worried that he would not grow and just be the comedic relief. I now think he's read to headline TSC.

As another said if they continue to the end point the actors who played the Pevensies will be close enough to the right age to return.

Also, as yet another said doing TSC helps finish out the Caspian story arc.

As a personal aside thanks to all the PM's welcoming me to the Lawn!! :)
