Sammy Ashford is a bright boy, not very big, from an intact African-American family. His father owns an automobile repair shop, Ashford's Garage. They're Christians, but attend a different church from Alipang. I can't recall if a "black church" was invented for them to attend in the old roleplay. At the time I've reached in the story, which = present time, Sammy is a sophomore at East. He has a little sister named Vonetta. He is friendly not only with Alipang, but also with Lacey Paulson, Tyrone's nice sister, who is 12 by now. If I were extending the story far enough into the future, I would probably have Sammy and Lacey get married.
