  • Heard of it, but somehow I don't read as much fantasy anymore, even though I still _write_ it.
AFTER "The Crisis" is all through, I'll have other recommendations for your reading pleasure.
The point is to let more people HAVE the chance to read a story. Waiting isn't fatal; authors like Charles Dickens had their novels serialized in newspapers.
What I said to E-Star is because in the past, he would post hs Byron-On-Wells stories all in a lump... and then they would fall off the bottom of the queue in a week or two and be lost, unseen by NEW members.
Yes, it looks better with paragraph spacing. As for Fayrrn: since I assme she is supposed to be an expert forester, you probably should say that she _knows_ there is a Minotaur nearby, and that she sneaked past him some way.
You should be able to re-create paragraph breaks in the text AFTER it is pasted onto your working screen. It helps readability.
Elves were never explicitly described by Lewis as being in Narnia; he favored Greek mythology more often. But claiming Nymph ancestry for your character would be nearly the same thing.
The current action in the roleplay is happening near the west end of Narnia. It has been agreed that the west end is easier to get through than the mountainous border directly between Archenland and Narnia; this makes it more believable for your human character to be ABLE to enter Narnia at all.

Note that, with Jadis having been IN Narnia for a century, and with SOME Narnian beings having gotten OUT of Narnia to tell what happened, people in Archenland WILL know perfectly well what the general conditions are in Narnia. Your character would thus be sure to know that NO humans have been seen inside Narnia for generations; thus your character would know that she will stick out like a fireworks display.
If you ask Evening Star, he'll give you a link to where you can see ALL the Byron-On-Wells stories. Incidentally: hardly anyone knows this anymore, but "Byron" was a WORD-word before it was ever a personal name. It originally meant something like a boat-ramp or pier. Thus, "Byron On Wells" means a waterfront place on a river called the Wells River.
Okay, imagine the Redwall series, but happening IN the Narnian world, and with LESS of characters dying.
If you've read any of the Redwall novels, their mood is somewhat similar to that of the Byron-On-Wells tales.
I think you just need a Moderator to _notice_ your number of entries posted-- because I think the twelve you've already done should be enough to move you up.
Further about the roleplays: in one that I was formerly part of, the referees made the villains practically omnipotent. Evil creatures could get to anyplace as if on warp drive, and could STAND MOTIONLESS in front of a hero attacking them with a sword yet NOT be hit. This left a bad taste in my mouth. So far in the "Swords-Claws-Teeth" roleplay, there HASN'T yet been any combat acted out. I've allowed throw-away characters to be killed without a struggle; but most of the game has been sheer character interaction.
And now I've seen your poem to your sister. It's excellent! Understand that you are 100 percent welcome to post poems of yours on my Sonnets thread; but as you advance beyond "Fresh Bread" rank, you will become able to create your own topics in any section. If you create a poetry thread of your own, I urge you not to let this be a one-item thread which vanishes off the stack after everyone reads the one poem; instead, make one ongoing thread the home for all your poems, so that later newcomers discovering your work will still be able to see things you wrote before they joined.
Are you aware that the only roleplay _currently_ active here is the "Swords-Claws-Teeth" one? Its action happens simultaneously with events in "Lion-Witch-Wardrobe." Meanwhile, here's a pointer on the use of these profile messages: in order to reply to me where I will be sure to see it, first click ON my underlined username. This will take you to MY profile page.
