  • That's an experience I rather wish I could have--reading the LotR for the first time when old enough to really understand it. I'm glad you did decide to read it! There are so many who see the movies and don't bother with the books...and never understand what they've missed. I agree with you on the impossibility of making movies which match everyone's personal vision of the books...although there were many changes made which went far beyond that. Changes to the plot, or worse, to the overall values inherent to the story bother me far more.

You're right, fanatic does sound better. :p I generally avoid it because of the connection to 'fan,' which is a term I don't care for, even though I love NF! Do you like to write? I have to ask--most people don't think about choice of words that much (or if they do, they don't tell me about it ;)).

So what do you like to read aside from the LotR and the CoN?
I think I found a new addiction.......Linky! The game is fun. I'm at chapter 5. I just found out Grandpa is the ocean King and now I re-entered the Temple of the ocean king. The whole story is like a puzzle but a fun one!
It was unavoidable. You can't be named Eowyn and not like the LotR! I read it when I was eight, and loved it--I've read it at least six times since, as well as many of Tolkiens other books. I suppose I could be described as obsessed.... However, I'm not as impressed with the movies. They're fine as movies, but completely inadequate adaptions of the book. :( I am familiar with that name though. (And I don't really mind the movies--if they were perfect, there wouldn't be nearly so much to say about them.)

I presume you also enjoy the LotR?

(BTW, I know it sounds funny--but I prefer to say 'the LotR' because it works better when you actually say the words. It is intentional. :p)
    It is.

Conversations are indeed fun. I've been practicing since I started college, and who knows? Maybe in a year or two I'll be talking to random strangers also. :p

Sounds vaguely familiar, but I have seen very few movies, so I don't know anything about the character. It can be very nice to have a username with connections to your real name though!
Thank you. Care to take a stab at my real name? :D

But call me not the slayer of the Nazgul, for it was the sword of the halfling, made with forgotten skill, which unbound his spirit from his flesh. I slew his awful steed, and that is honor enough.

Do I know you, BTW? People keep changing usernames, and I don't do that well with keeping track. Or possibly you're one of those people who can start a conversation out of the blue. It's a nice skill.

Where does your username come from?
    D
    Ooh,I like Faramir,too..I forgot about him (haven't seen LOTRs in a while.:p)
 The Witch King creeps me out...:p The Nazgul king is pretty cool though, for a villian.
    So,hows life?:D
