BREAKING: Greta Gerwig’s Narnia Reboot For Netflix Promises To Be The First In A New “Ground Breaking Animated Franchise”

Ok so the original post was an April fools joke. Sounds like the production is going to be The Magicians Nephew. A name was leaked that was pulled back quickly, but it was marked he was playing Diggory Kirke. and the actor was a young actor so not an aged Kirke for Lion the Witch and the...

    C.S. Lewis the movie!

Funny, I never took the ending of Reepicheeps tale as ambiguous. Always found it pretty clear, he reached Aslan's country aka heaven. What do you find ambiguous about that?

    C.S. Lewis the movie!

A great movie about Lewis is The Most Reluctant Convert. It came out in 2021 and was really well done, definitely worth a watch. It focuses on his conversion as the title obviously implies.

BREAKING: Greta Gerwig’s Narnia Reboot For Netflix Promises To Be The First In A New “Ground Breaking Animated Franchise”

They are referencing The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in the article, and the concept pictures are obviously Lion Witch and the Wardrobe. As much as I love and would love to see an adaptation of The Magicians Nephew, I don't think it is a strong one to start the series with, at least if they...

What is ONE thing you hope happens in the Netflix Narnia stuff, that you are concerned they won't do?

why would you want to see that? It is a sad thing at it is simply mentioned in the book. And of all the things that would get dropped or not make it into a movie/tv adaptation, this is a dark piece I could leave as described in the book, a sibling asking about her and Aslan giving his brief answer.

The Lord of the Rings- J.R.R. Tolkien

How many more hours would the movie need to be to add this? Not dismissing it is great in the book but movies work differently and pace differently. When you want the best version of the story go to the books. The movies are lazy and pale copies in comparison and will never touch what was pen to...

What is ONE thing you hope happens in the Netflix Narnia stuff, that you are concerned they won't do?

The Magicians Nephew is an entirely new cast. No need to dumb down the movies because audiences have become used to story tellers spoon feed them. This was the second to last book to come out and my favourite along side with The Last Battle. Beginning and end stories both beautiful described and...

What is ONE thing you hope happens in the Netflix Narnia stuff, that you are concerned they won't do?

Why would Charn have been mentioned in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? Unless I have completely missed it, it was not mentioned in the book, nor was any of Jadis back story.

You don't have to be Christian to love Narnia

Jewish and Christian share the same origins as Chrstianity is a continuation of Judaism. The first Christians were predominantly Jews. I would say Islam is not an Abrahamic religion, it came 5 or 6 centuries after Christ and adapted some of the stories from the Torah and made claims about a...

You don't have to be Christian to love Narnia

I agree that anyone can enjoy the books on a base level, and can even see the beauty of the deeper elements. A Christian will relate to the stories much more I think, because they are in many ways a mirror to Christianity itself. For those who are not Christian and loving the...

    BBC Radio 4 Narnia

I have a monthly subscription to Audible and got the complete BBC set in Audible. They are certainly enjoyable and don't do anything to bastardize the story, though they can never have the charm and magic of the unabridged books. If you like listening to books I would highly recommend the...

Tom Bombadil Sings His Way Into The Rings of Power!

I am surprised they even have the rights to Tom Bombadil. As far as I know he does not appear in unfinished tales anywhere. I wonder what horrors they will do to this character along with the rest. I think they will attempt another "origin" type story for the character, or at least drastically...

    White and Green

I think the first 3 stand out a little and are more interesting villains. I only know from he movies, not a comic book reader. Loki - more an anti hero, seems to help in the end and not be a straightforward evil doer for evils sake Thanos - he was an interesting villain because again he was not...

    White and Green

Think this is looking way too deeply for something that is not there. Evil is not unique, especially evil in stories where it is pretty singular in the thirst for dominion and power. So all your villains are going to be very similar. That being said, Jadis is from another world, which is not...

Star Wars -- ONE thread for all Star Wars - ALL Star Wars here

The list is also missing Rogue One. This is the only Star Wars I can stomach now. I LOVED Star Wars as a kid, now I can barely stomach it with the new writing, and find the old still fun but not all that appealing. The series did not age well to me, not in the same way the original Indiana Jones...

Star Wars -- ONE thread for all Star Wars - ALL Star Wars here

That message really is the Disney way. How many movies have they come out with turning the villain into just a misunderstood or previously wronged person seeking vengeance? The simplicity of good vs evil in story telling is being diluted with the idea that being evil is a matter of perception...

The Rings of Power returns with Season 2! Here’s the teaser!

Hollywood does have trouble writing strong female characters, they seem to only be able to do it by creating a male character and then casting a woman. Women and men both have their unique strengths and weaknesses. It would be great for actual strong female characters written for women. When a...

The Rings of Power returns with Season 2! Here’s the teaser!

I will watch season 2, more out of curiosity to what more they will do to the world I love that Tolkien so carefully and wonderful created. I was one of the few who actually finished season 1 (only 35% of viewers actually finished). I was holding on to a little hope that Amazon would learn from...

What is ONE thing you hope happens in the Netflix Narnia stuff, that you are concerned they won't do?

I hope they stay true to the source material and do not ignore the obvious Christian values and imagery in these stories. No real hope on that, it seems Hollywood writers think they can improve upon these masterpieces but are so focused on hitting all the societal notes of today that they need...

Book Fan? Or Movie Fan? Or both?

Certainly Nancy Drew was describe as attractive, this from a quick search on her description, and this is not based on pictures. 18 years old, blond hair, blue eyes, rich family and described as attractive. I think maybe Little House on the Prairies sits outside of that realm a little as I...
