A Royally Mixed Future

'Well... he's pretty occupied at the moment...' Rebecca looked back to Edmund and Peter playfully hitting each other. 'Wonderful siblings they make,' she commented as she picked up the cream and sugar.

Clarissa smiled as she looked back at the two. "Yes, and wonderful companions as well," she said, winking at Rebecca. "Thanks again for your help," she said with a smile. "So, how are things going between you two?" she asked her as she set the tea down.

'No problem,' she answered setting the tray down. 'Actually... I don't know. It's kind of at a stand-still. We haven't been talking in a while so I... really don't know.' Rebecca's smile dimmed a bit.

Edmund walked in and saw Lucy happily greeting her friend.

"This young man looked a little lost," he said with a grin. "I thought it was best if he joined us, what do you think Lucy? Would you introduce him to us?"

"Oh of course! Everyone this is Nick, he's a friend of mine at Oxford (lol I dont know any other colleges in England!). He's studying to be a doctor."

Peter looked at him up and down. Handsome for a young bloke, but he didn't seem to have a spark, or anything really interesting about him(to Peter that is) and immediatly Peter concluded he didn't like him.

"Nice to meet you," he said extending his hand.

Clarissa's smile flickered. "Oh, I'm sorry... but I'm sure you've both been busy, so maybe this will help you two," Clarissa said, hopefully. Clarissa suddenly saw a new boy in the room. She heard Lucy introduce him and smiled. Just then, she saw Peter's expression. "Peter, could you help me with these?" Clarissa called.

"Who? Lucy's friend?" Clarissa asked as she walked into the kitchen. "Not that I noticed... why? Did you see something?" she asked, trying to hide a smile. Peter was in major big brother mode, and it never ceased to entertain her.

Clarissa laughed. "Peter, you wouldn't trust any guy that's with Lucy," she told him, putting down her tray. She put her arms around him in a hug. "She is living with us, and you've known her much longer that I have, but so far hasn't she shown that she has excellent judgement?" she asked him, laying her head on his shoulder. "Come on, just relax and have fun tonight... you may want to change out of your suit to do that, no matter how handsome you look," she teased, grinning up at him.

(ooc: why doesn't Peter trust Nick? That is so out of character for Peter because Nick has not given him a reason to distrust him. Peter would never act like that based on looks. And is demeaning to Lucy because that would mean Lucy does not know how to chose her friends. This is why I made Edmund like him at once because that is a validation to Lucy's character.)

Edmund immediately tried to make Nick comfortable and began asking him questions about Oxford, and about how many long it would be until he became a full doctor.

"I am in the middle of my first residency," said Nick, "right now I am mainly observing the doctors and assisting in anything I can. I should get a little more hands-on experience in the second half."

"Well, that is great, Nick," said Ed, I'll make sure to keep in mind when you graduate. It will be great to have a good doctor available. You will be a good doctor right?"

"I am hoping to be one, yes."

"Great. Now, let's go get some tea.

Ooc: Look, I know that we are not remaining perfectly true to each of the characters, but that is the fun of RPing. We can take a character and portray them in our own way. It may not be exactly how C.S. Lewis wrote them or what everyone else expects, but we all have different views of how the characters should be. I want this to be a fun and relaxing, not necessarily by the book.

(ooc you forget BK that Peter is very protective. Also he sees Lucy as his sweet lil sis. He doesn't think she has bad judgement, just that she is so nice to everyone that he fears Nick could take advantage of her. Peter WOULD judge a guy on looks b/c he was with Lucy. If Nick weren't he'd have no problem. As I posted earlier Lucy has not had that much luck with guys, and I imply that her heart has been broken. All he's doing is looking out for her)

"Ahh you're right, maybe I'm just wigged out over all this planning." He said to her and kissed her on the cheek.

Lucy smiled when Nick was talking to Edmund. Of her two brothers Ed was the easiest to intorduce guys to. He was very calm and had a peaceful demure about him, unlike Peter who was extroverted enough to make her guy friends feel uncomfortable. In a sense he was like father, being a military man, and being very blunt as well.

(ooc: does that mean that this Lucy does not have very good judgment that she picks losers? And when a brother is being overprotective, he would be more interested in knowing more about the other person than just taking one look at him and deciding he's not to be trusted no matter what.
Anyway, I plan to play Edmund as true as possible to the Edmund Pevensie I love from the books. If that is going to be a problem, let me know please)

IC:
As usual, Edmund was quick to make strangers feel welcomed in his presence. He handed Nick a cup of tea and motioned for him to seat at the small table. Edmund sat opposite him, picked a cookie from the platter in the center of the table and the pushed the platter in Nick's direction.

"Well, I don't know how long this gathering will last," he said, almost talking to himself, "but I do love to get together with my family."

Looking at Nick.

"If you visit more often, you might have a hard time getting used to this," he said to Nick with a smile.

(ooc you dont have overprotective older brothers do you? if you include my real on and my guy friends who are actually beeter brothers than my own, that is EXACTLY what they do. First impressions are everything to them. And he didn't say no matter what, he's just acting on big brother mode.
Also Lucy doesn't discriminate. She would never think of anyone as a loser or a winner, but be kind and befriend anyone whom she thought needed/wanted it)

Susan watched Edmund talk to Nick in that protective brotherly fashion. She chuckled and looked at Will "Do you remember when Peter was like that with you?"
Will's eyes widened "How could I forget?" he answered.
