After Return of the King

"Great. Takia, you'll be our look out. Arla, Mar, and I will stand in a circle over there. When I give the signal you, the elven army, and Pippin charge forward." Bryan said.

THey all took there postions.

Astia waited motion less.

Suddenly there was a cry. The evil elf was stunned.

"Now Frodo!" Bryan shouted trying not to take his mind off what he was doing.

Suddenly there was a cry. The evil elf was stunned.

"Now Frodo!" Bryan shouted trying not to take his mind off what he was doing.

Frodo-

Frodo braced himself. Taking in each breath shakily. His fingers traced the sharp glowing blade of his sword. The silence was broken. The deep breath before the plunge had finally lost it's breath. Bryan's signal rang out through the air. Frodo blindingly charged forward, to his doom or triumph. He raised his sword high then shouted to his friends behind him,

"For Master Brandybuck and for the shadows of evil to finally be snuffed out!"

Frodo continued to run forward into the upper levels of darkness. He could not see where he was going so he would have to rely on his ears to make judgement and there was no doubt this would be a diffucult task. Arrows whizzed by Frodo's head, narrowly missing him. And amazingly Frodo stayed unharmed. Or atleast for now.

Pippin-

Pippin trudged alongside Frodo, into the pitch black. However much he strained, he still could not get his eyes to adjust to this deep darkness. Fear still had a large stronghold upon Pippin. Feeling the breeze of arrows fly by him, Pippin began to retreat a few steps backward.

Frodo-

Frodo could quietly hear the sound of Pippin's breathing grow fainter. He knew his friend was afraid,

"Steady, Pippin."

Frodo now continued a bit quieter,

"Stay by me. I can not do this without you."

Pippin-

Pippin took a deep breath, however much he did not want to go on he knew he had to. His friend was more important than his own childish fears. Although he knew Frodo could not see it, Pippin nodded then caught up with him.

Merry-

Merry suddently sat straight up. Down in the very depths of the caves he could of sworn he heard Frodo's voice. Or maybe he was just imagining it. Verendiel could of played yet another trick on his mind. Or had she? Verendiel pressed the knife closer to Merry's throat, confirming Merry's suspisions. Tension began to build within the walls of the room. With a voice interlaced with poison, Vernediel whispered in Merry's ear,

"Come. We shall go and greet your friends."

Proving a diffucult task for Merry, Verendiel finally got him to stand upon his feet. He was weary. Food or drink seemed like only a faint dream to him. His friends faces, no longer familiar. He felt as if he had been here years, not meer days. It would not be long before his death, that is if all went ill. And Verendiel truly hoped it would. Sharp rope still dug into Merry's bleeding wrists and dirt matted his once brightly shining golden hair. Taking position in the large doorway to the room, Verendiel waited for the arrival of Merry's friends. She would give them either two options. To either trade for Merry or to leave her dominion and she would spare the hobbit's life, but still keep him as her prisoner. The choice would be theirs to make. The dim latern light caught hold of both captor and captive's face as they both waited grimly for the moments to come.

"Steady all. We've got to stun her just long enough." Bryan managed to say.

Frodo-

From within the depths of the caves, Frodo could just barely make out a faint light. Was it just a trick to the eyes? Or was there really a beam of light ahead? Frodo did not know. But he would soon find out. The stench of monsterous Orc's filled the air, but still Frodo trudged on. Hand to hand combat was unavoidable here. Knocking creature down from left to right, Frodo wondered if he was really causing harm to the enemies or the allies. No one could be sure. Now over a mile they had journeyed through the caves and still they had not reached it's end. How long this maze went on, one could only guess. As lucky as he was, Frodo had only recieved a few minor bruises and scratches. Maybe this cloak of darkness would come in the end, to be to his advantage. Hobbits were naturally talented at sneaking and quietly getting from place to place. And this talent surely shone in all it's glory as the war went on.

Pippin-
Pippin could hear the heavy gruff breathing of an Orc nearby. Positioning himself in a stance of war, Pippin waited for the Orc's attack. Clumsily attempting to strike a blow at Pippin, the hobbit dodged his attack. Swerving to the Orc's right, Pippin thrust his blade into the beast's side. The Orc cried out in agony and began to fall to the floor, but before he fell, he grabbed ahold of Pippin's small ankle. Pippin let out a quiet yelp, as his ankle twisted in an awkward and painful position. It was only moments later the Orc grew cold and released his grasp on the hobbit. Pippin breathed a sigh of relief and continued to march along with a sore ankle. But atleast he was alive. For now, that is.

Astia held her breath waiting for a signal.

Through his mind Bryan told her, "Now!"

"Forward!" Astia shouted.

Frodo-

Frodo took a deep breath, now realizing that the light in the distance was not just a figmit of his imagination. It was truly there. The faint beams danced across the walls catching hold of his dear friends faces. They had not seen light in several hours.

Pippin-

Quickly holding the light captive within his sparkling eyes, a glimmer of hope began to rise within Pippin. Light surely meant they were coming to an end. He had believed they would never see golden rays again through this bitter darkness. He could not imagine how Merry had spent several days in such a dreary place.

Astia's army walked briskly toward the tunnel

Frodo-

Frodo turned to his left, Kasey was walking quietly beside him,

"Where do you think that light is coming from?" ,he asked under his breath.

Merry-

Merry's ears ached in agony at the sound of his friend's arrival. More than anything did he want to see them again, but he was afraid the challenge of Vernediel would prove too much for them. He had seen her power at work and it frightened him. The footfalls began to grow louder and louder, yet still they were very distant. How long it would take to see his friend's faces again, Merry did not know. Yet he hoped they would turn back, and soon.

Verendiel-

While still leaving her knife clenching hand to lay at Merry's throat, Vernediel signaled with her other to ready the Orc archers. Though she may be powerful of mind she could never be too careful in such circumstances. She was not let anything become her downfall. Her will, would be done.

"I don't know." was her answer.

A dark hair elf watch them in the shadows.
" So do you think they save you hobbit?,"She ask withan evil laugh.

Merry-

Merry quickly became startled at the sound of another Elf's voice. Her laugh pierced the air like a newly fired arrow. She was of Verendiel's kind, no doubt.
Merry stayed silent, unsure of how to answer. The less he said, the better. Or atleast, that's what he believed.

She walk around him in circles.
" My dear Hobbit I do say it well be fun to watching their face when you die,"She told him .

"Frodo, look over there! By that tree!" Kasey said in a scared voice when they came into the light.

Frodo-

Paying quick attention to the sound of Kasey's uneasy voice, Frodo's head turned. His eyes now caught hold of the scene that began to unfold before him. The pure light finally reached his view, but what stood before it was full of darkness. A tall Elf hidden behind a flowing black and green cloak stood, holding a sharp knife to the one they loved and had waited to see for what seems like ages. Merry. Raising his glimmering sword in challenge, Frodo began to plunge forward bravely. He had only taken a few steps forward when a line of Orc's clothed in large coats of chain metal, stepped between his path. His dear friend was now blocked from his vision. But Frodo would not give up so easily.

Attacking the Orc's with the heavist and hardest blows possible for a small hobbit, Frodo fought valiantly for one who had never entered a war with a sword in hand. He had learned a bit of swordsmanship here and there, but never enough that could prepare him for leadership of a battle. Or so many would assume. But as time went on, Frodo's strengh began to weaken. This large group of Orc's proved too powerful for Frodo. Bashing him left and right, there was no doubt the hobbit found himself completely surrounded. Using the end of his sword, a nearby Orc crushed it above Frodo's left eye, leaving a noticeably awful gash. Minutes after, another Orc ran at him slashing Frodo's side, but luckily not too deep. The pain though caused Frodo to the ground. But he soon re-gained his footing, a bit more weary than before.

When finally Frodo believed he could no longer stand against the Orc's harsh blows, there was a harshly toned yell. The fighting ceased. All eyes were cast upon Verendiel.

Verendiel-

"Lay down your arms, Frodo of the Shire. Or I will be forced to remove them from your cold hands in the soon coming future."

She paused, as the greatly wished attention was quickly brought upon her.

"Lay them down now! Or by the swift blow of my sword, your friend will breath no more!"

She pressed the knife closer to Merry's throat, a gleam of fire glowed in her eyes. Silence filled the air,

"I have a proposal to make and I demand that you surely listen."

Merry-

Merry shivered at the sound of the evil Elf's eerie voice, lines of sadness fell across his weary face,

"W..who are you?" ,he stuttered.

In the backround, Merry could hear Frodo and his friends fighting. Everytime he heard their cries of pain, Merry looked down in bitter agony. He knew he had brought this upon him. Maybe his death would release them from such a terrible fate.

(Sorry guys, I accidently posted this twice and on the first one I didn't really edit it well. So please disregard that one. For some reason it won't let me delete it either. Weird.)

Bryan stopped consentrating and ran toward the light. "Don't harm the hobbit Verendiel. Instead of you making the deal I have one for you that I doubt you'll refuse. Set free the hobbit and let me take his place. If you accept this then they'll lay down their arms and leave. They'll never trouble you again!" Bryan called to her.

Valderà laugh.
" you can't can't stop the queen if you can you well die as well,"She told him,
She turn to Merry with a half smile on her face.
" Who I am you ask I'm Valderà and that my dear hobbits is my sister,'She told them.

Merry-

Merry made no struggle whatsoever as he waited, feeling the knife still poised at his throat. Every now and then he would take a quick gasp for air, but other than that he tried not to make a move. Any quick foolishly made action could be the death of him. So he had to be careful. Suddently Merry sat up straighter than before, for now Bryan had bravely stepped out. Allowing him to pass between them, the Orc's stepped aside. Even though in their dark evil hearts they wished nothing more than to slash this Elf to bits. Merry shut his eyes a moment in anguish as he listened to Bryan's words falling from his mouth. Why did it have to be such a good and kind hearted Elf as Bryan? Merry did not know. Carefully considering what to do, Merry called out to his friend,

"Do not do this, Bryan! Save yourself from this fate! Let me remain instead!"

Frodo-

For the first time upon coming to these caves, Frodo could finally gaze up into Merry's weary eyes. It had been long since he had seen his friend. And truly this was not how Frodo remembered him at all. His friend seemed distant now and his face and entire body was beaten terribly. Was this really the happy father Frodo had known only a week ago?
Stepping forward to get a better view, Frodo was utterly shocked to find Bryan sacrifing himself to save Merry. Would Verendiel accept? Frodo waited anxiously. The fate of all, would be decided within these next few defining moments.

Pippin-

"Merry!" ,Pippin cried out, upon reaching the sight of his dearest best friend. Pippin shuttered to see the bounds that tied his friend in misery. With all of his heart he wished to free Merry, but as one so small, there was nothing Pippin could do. Watching Bryan bravely walk into the eye of doom, Pippin stared, unable to move. What was to come?

Verendiel-

Throwing back her shadowy cloak, Verendiel's face appeared. Her eyes now able to peer into each and every one of their souls. She knew they were frightened and she enjoyed it. They were truly at her will now. There was no reason why she couldn't presently expand on her proposal. The group was held tightly in the palm of her hand. No army could stand up against the powers of the remaining Orc's of Mordor. Still ceasing to lift the knife from Merry's throat, Verendiel called,

"If you wish me to spare the life of the hobbit, I will require more."

Verendiel thought a moment, then smiled,

"I shall take you as my prisoner Bryan, but I will also wish to take the Ring Bearer and her Lady Arla. If you do not do as I say, Merry will surely die at my hands."

Verendiel continued to smirk. By holding Lord Bryan, Lady Arla, and the Ring Bearer captive she knew she would become quite powerful. Nothing would stop her. She would hold some of the most greatly important people of Middle Earth and no doubt that would be greatly to her advantage.
