I am in -- DragonGold66. Friend me.

I didn't get a chance to look around yet. Where is the quiz you take to get sorted?

Thank you. I will be traveling and not online now until next week, but I will try to get there, get sorted, and accept all friend requests then.

A question

I just reread Deathly Hallows and I don't understand why Tom Riddle did Not become true master of the Elder Wand when he "killed" Harry in the forest?

Benisse, in order to win the allegience of another person's wand, you must defeat them. Not just kill them, but defeat them. Tom didn't defeat Harry. Harry went there to sacrifice himself and willingly offered himself up for Voldy.

Also, even after that, Harrry hadn't been defeated. In fact, Harry won that battle without even trying.

very well said.

So stealing the wand (as Grindewald did) or defeating the owner of the wand changes the allegiance of the Elder Wand but since HP did not put up a fight (but intentionally let Riddle kill him) it did not affect that wand?

Grindelwald stole the wand, and so I don't think it ever gave its allegiance to him. He wasn't invincible ... I think you have to defeat the owner to gain its allegiance.

I have been so busy with work and my mom's business, I didn't get back to Pottermore! I'll try to get there and friend anyone here who requested it.

It was Grindelwald's because that's how Dumbledore became the owner, by defeating Gellert. And then Draco got it when he disarmed Dumbledore, then Harry got it either in the Room of Requirement or when he disarmed Draco in Malfoy Manor, I can't remember which. Harry gave himself to Voldemort, so I think that's why it doesnt count...

Grindelwald actually defeated Gregorovich. He took the wand and shot a stunning spell at him. That was what defeated him. Just stealing it would not have worked. That was why it didn't work when Voldy stole it from Dumbledore's grave.

The plans between Dumbledore and Snape was that at some point during the year, Snape would kill him. This plan was intended to have Dumbledore die as the final owner of the Elder Wand, undefeated. Those plans did not come about.

When Harry Potter found out he had to die in order for Voldy to die, he resigned himself to dying at the hands of Voldy. Defeating another person mean sthe defeated doesn't willingly give up. Harry did willingly give himself up in order to further kill Voldy himself. Voldy did what Harry wanted him to do. There was no defeat.
