Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite series to watch. I have them all on DVD and spent an entire day watching all of it. I didn't like the war one as much as the first ones, but all in all it was a good movie. I haven't read the books yet though. Maybe I should then compare them? What do you think?

the third one IS the "war" one.

It's crud, in my opinion.
I don't even think of it as part of the series, cause you know what?
LMM DIDNT WRITE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sry, but i REALLY STRONGLY dislike that movie.

Hmmm... Interesting. I don't think that I would read the book. It would be cool to learn about Anne's parents though. Even though L.M.M did'nt write the the third movie, I still really liked it, so maybe this film will be OK. I wonder who they will get to replace Meagan Follows? :)

no. it's not a book. it's a movie.

I wasn't allowed to watch the third. I own it but my mom won't let me see it cause of the war.

be happy you can't see it. it's horrible. it doesn't even take place at green gables. maybe 20 minutes out of 3 hours does, but it's just a story about people whose names happen to be anne and gilbert. i liked it at first, but then it kept DRAGGING ON AND ON AND ON and things happened, like killing off 99% of the guys anne and gil went to school with in 30 seconds, the whole anne and the kid thing was stupid, and would NEVER have flown back in that time period, and in real life, she NEVER would have been able to do what she did.
and i know you don't know what i'm talking about, but be happy. it's a horrid movie.

My fav out of the three was 2.

I saw it when I was nine, becuase my Mom watched it with me and fast-forwarded through the war scenes.
I finally got to see it complete last year.
Its good if you ask her to fast-forward?:)

I'm reviving this thread because I just saw the second Anne movie and I want to talk about it! :p

I've only read the first book, and I had seen the first movie. Someone let me borrow the second movie, but I wasn't really looking foward to watching it because I haven't read the books it was based on and had no idea what to expect. But it was so lovely! I liked it better than the first movie. It was so romantic...I wanted to clunk Anne over the head when she didn't accept Gilbert's proposal the first time. :p I loved the story of how she taught school to all of those snobby girls...that one girl, Jen Pringle (I think), was so cruel! The way her eyes got when she was plotting against Anne. I had no idea what was going to happen, and I kept thinking about how incredibly disappointing it would be if Anne accepted the other man's proposal. And I cried like a baby from the scene where she finds out Gilbert is sick until the end of the movie, but I loved every moment of those scenes. It was so sweet! :D

if you think the MOVIE is awesome (the sequel my 5th favorite movie), you should read the rest of the series! they actually combined books 2-4 for that movie. whatever you do, DON'T watch the continuing story. it's HORRIBLE in my opinion. it's just a movie that so happens to have a girl named anne and a guy named gil who just happen to spend 15 min of a 3 hour movie in avonlea. NONE of it happens in the series, which is what infuirates me. I fully believe that the first two awesome movies could have become 8 AMAZING movies if they had made each book into a movie. anne of the island is SO ROMANTIC! you should fully read the rest of the series, especially that one. wait until you read what they left out! I love that one!

Yes, I loved it that Gilbert DID win Anne's heart in the end. Movies or novels don't always let the DESERVING guy get the girl. (Not that the rich guy was evil, but Anne didn't belong with him.) And Megan Follows portrayed Anne PERFECTLY.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!So glad you liked it!!!!
I love that movie!!I love the books too..read every one of them eyars ago.."Rilla of Ingleside"(the last) is sooo sad,though....

Oh,and no matter what people say,"The Continuing Story" actually isn't rotton. It strays alot from the books, and it isn't the best of the trilogy, but its really good..and has so much WWI history.I tried it even though people said not too,and I'm glad I saw it.

Anyone heard about the new prequel Anne thats supposed to be coming out?

I think they should have made the movie a non-Anne movie. I think then I would have had a better chance to like it. I just hate how they only go to Avonlea 2 times, and nothing that happens in that movie other than the marriage happens in the series. I heard about the prequel, but I won't be watching it. I still say I think it would have been AMAZING if they had just kept making the entire series, one movie per book. They did a great job with the first movie, even quoting scenes word for word from the book, and the sequel is my favorite, but I wish it could have been three even better movies rather than just one. the sequel is my 5th favorite movie by the way :)
