Sage looked around the libary quietly, she guessed there were about 50 studants in it. This was either going to get really bad, and bloody or the police were going to rescue them

Cole looked at Hugh and then back at Holly, "I know...we will be fine," he didn't know what else to say. there was already one dead who was to say the man wouldn't just start killing them one by one. Oh God, Help us. Help me to stay strong for them. he prayed

The police circled the library the backup coming in. They didn’t know how many people were inside or how many gunmen there were. It was a fragile situation and they had to handle it correctly.
“Come out with your hand’s above your head!” the officer announced. Hugh just laughed sending shudders up Cole’s spine. He took out his cell phone and dialed 911.
“Yes put me though to the commanding officer. He said gruffly. “Don’t think I will e that simple officer,” he said with a smirk.
“Just take it easy,” the officer was trying to talk him down but it wasn’t working.
“Officer cut the crap. I am not giving into you little sham. I know it well so just you listen to me. I have twenty or so kids in her and I will start shooting them if you don’t cooperate.” he switched the phone to the other hand, “Now listen closely. I need to get out and you will let me.”
“I can’t just-“ but before the officer could finish a shot rang out. Hugh smiled as the girls screamed on que.
“Officer, I said I would kill and I will. Now I am sending two guys out with the body. Trusty me officer, if you want these kids to get out of here alive you will do exactly as I say.” he said hanging up the phone. He scanned the room and pointed to two guys. “You and you,” he then pointed to the girl he had shot earlier. “Get her out of here.” he growled. And he unlocked the door opening it just enough for the two to get out carrying the girl between them. Hugh hadn’t shot anyone else but the cops didn’t have to know.

Cole watched the guys carry the girl out and a tiny smile played on his lips. he ws glad for them...they were out of this mess

Hugh walked over and stared at Victor.
“This is your mess,” he whispered in more of a growl. He turned away and opened his phone, “Officer, Have you cleared your men?” a pause and a smile crossed Hugh’s face, “good. Now slash one tier in everyone of your cars and go thirty feet behind them.”
“We can’t just-“
“DO IT! Or others will die and they will be on your head and what will you tell their parents, officer? That you made a decision that killed them? You will have to live with that.” Hugh closed the phone and turned to face everyone, he stopped his gaze on a young girl who stood in the corner. “Give me your cell phone.” he barked and without hesitation she did as he said, “What is your number?” he demanded.
“It’s um....it’s 705-010-1986.” he smiled an evil hard smile.
“Now what you are going to do is go out and see if they have done everything I asked.” he stepped closer to her, “and I will have a gun on you the whole time. Make one wrong move and you’ll have a built in your back.” before she could react he grabbed her by the arm and nearly drug her to the door. With a wicked smile he turned the knob, “Now be a good girl.” he shoved her out and slammed the door behind her.

"What?" Cole asked noting her whisper.

Hugh pulled out his phone and called the girl, “So have they done everything I said?” he asked
“ye...yes. The tires are slashed and the officers are twenty feet behind.” her voice was shaky. Hugh smiled,
“Good.” he replied before hanging up. He turned to face the bunch of frightened faces that stared up at him. He needed hostages. He saw a young boy holding a girl. Those two would come, but he needed more. There was a young girl sitting accoss from a boy at a table with papers scattered in front of them and a boy opff in a corner with a big book in his hands. Just a few more minutes and those five would be his captives. Opening his phone he hit a speed dial number, “Marc, we are coming out by the ally be ready. The police will be right on top of us.” then he hung up

Holly nodded biting her lip. She wished that it could have been her, which was a bit selfish. At the same time, it was justified.

Hugh met Cole’s gaze.
“Give me your phone kid,” he barked Cole jumped at the volume of the command but obeyed quickly. “And you there,” he said pointing to Holly, “your phone slide it to me.” One by one he took the phones of his five victims. Cole, Holly, Sage, Nate, and Joe, randomly picked out among their class mates.
“all of you get over there.” He ordered pointing to a wall that was on the opposite side from the doors. “Everyone else, Get over there.” He pointed to another wall. He pulled out his cell, “We are coming,” he said and then hung it back up. He walked over to the five his gun at his side but his finger always resting on the trigger, “Do what I say and you might get though this. Don’t do what I say and you will die. Is there a back door to this place?” he yelled to no one in particular but expecting to get an answer.
“It’s locked. It leads to the back way though campus. We never use it so there may be boxes piled up against the door.” A young woman spoke up. She was trembling.
“Show me the way to this door.” He said but she didn’t move, “NOW!” she started walking and he turned to Victor, “Keep an eye on the rest, I’ll call you when we are ready. “ whipping around he grabbed Holly by the arm and pointed the gun at her head, “Any of you punks try anything this girl get a bullet in her brains. Got it.” With that he trailed behind the others as the librarian lead them to the back door.

The halls were dark and there were boxes everywhere. Cole prayed every step of the way. Holly had to come out of this fine. He had told her she would and she had to. he looked over at Nate. His friend was frightened he could tell but he was hiding it well.

The librarian came to a stop.
“There are three doors the two that we use most of the time to unload things are down that hall and there is one that has been bolted for years somewhere around here.” She started pushing boxes out of the way and slowly a door revealed it’s self.
“Help her.” Hugh commanded and Cole jumped to it right away some of the others helped as well. Soon it was cleared away.
“Where does this lead?” Hugh asked.
“It uh leads to..um a walking distance to mains street.” She was nervous but trying her best to stay calm. Hugh grinned taking the gun away from Holly’s head for just a moment a shot rang out and echoed in the ears of the five captives. The empty shell clanked to the ground fallowed by a deafening thud. The Librarian crumbled to the floor among the boxes. Cole wanted to cry and yell and take Hugh all at the same time but all he could do was stand there staring at her. That was the second time he had seen death that day. Letting go of Holly he rose his gun in firing position aimed still at her head. he pulled out his cell phone, “Victor get down here, Now.” He hung up. And the wait for Victor began.

Cole closed his eyes and mumbled a prayer. So far this was the most horrific day of his life and it was bound to get worse. He looked up at Nate. He thought about his family all he wanted was to catch his little niece in a bug bare hug and tell his sister how much he loved her. That would have to wait.

A sob caught in Holly's throat as the librarian fell. Twice in one day. First day of her life she had ever seen death.
