Nicks phone rang but the conversation was very short. He walked over to Ceagin and Adina.
“Ok so here is the deal. Chez had to be rushed into surgery because he had internal bleeding and his lungs were filling up. They are still not done with the surgery so that is as much as I know at the moment.” Nick could see Ceagin’s head drop lower and his shoulders slump more. This was crushing him and Nick could feel it

Adina didn't say anything. I have to get out of here, she thought. She stood up, her hands were shaking.

"adina you ok?" he asked putting his arm around her.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said. please dont ask anything else Nick, she thought.

Nick put is other hadn on ehr shoulder and held her at arm's length, "Not true. soemthign is wrong? what is it?" he asked. he needed to get his mind off of Chez or he would go mad.

"I was just thinking about my parents," she said. Adina forced a smile, "I'm fine, really."

Nick shook his head but let it rest at that. he pulled her into an embrace. This was one hell of a day.

Adina wanted to cry, but she couldn't, not yet. She looked up, the nurse at the counter was staring at her. she recognizes me, Adina thought. "I'm going to go get coffee Nick, do you want some?"

Ok quick question, I didn’t think Adina had ever been to NYC before so how would she know the nurse…maybe I am just jumping the gun.

Nick shook his head, “Nah, Thanks though. You want me to walk with you?”

Nick took Adina's hand as they walked down to the coffee room. He needed to think about something else but he couldn't get the image of Chez on the ground with blood coming out his nose and mouth out of his head. he closed his eyes. He could still feel it, the red, hot, sticky blood covering his hands as he tried to save his friend. He had managed to shove it out of his mind for a little while but it was all flooding back.

"Hey, you ok?" Adina asked, she gently touched Nick's arm.

He shook his head, "No." He clenched his jaw; his heart began to ache, "Adina, I felt so useless. I couldn't do anything. The blood..." and then he stopped. She didn't need to know.

Adina nodded, she knew how he felt. She wasn't sure what to say. "Nick, you weren't useless."

Nick snorted in response. he didn't mean to come of rude it just did. "You didn't see him. Just staring at me and the best I could do...it didn't make a difference." he could feel the tears welling up in his eyes. "I almost lost him, Adina. Ceagin would have never forgiven m...I would have..." he stopped the tears were threatening he tried to choke them back.

As Kiera went to her dorm, she was surprised to see her roommate was leaving. She sighed, not wanting to talk about anything. She immediately grabbed a coat, and went outside, just walking. She didn't know where, she didn't know why.
All she knew was the night couldn't get any worse....

Adina gently touched his cheek, "Nick, I saw my parents stabbed to death," she said quietly, "and I just stood there, watching them bleed to death..." She stopped before she started crying. She took a few deep breaths, "you did everything you could. Chez wouldn't want you to blame your self for not being able to do anything."

Sarah couldn't sleep. She woke up only an hour after falling asleep because of a nightmare. Instead of going back to sleep, she changed into sweat pants and an old t-shirt and went outside. She saw Kiera walking and waved. "Hey. Couldn't sleep?"

Kiera looked up from her reverie. "Umm...yeah. Too much going on in my mind, ya know??" she said, and then forced a smile. "You couldn't sleep either??"

Sarah shrugged. "For an hour. But...the sight of blood normally gives me nightmares. And I've got a lot on my mind too...it was quite a day." She rolled her eyes. "Started out nice though."
