"Could I have a mocha frappachino with a double shot?" Miranda said, smiling crookedly.
"Kay, I'll be right back with those!" the waitress said, then left.
Rupert just smiled and nodded not knowing what to say.

"So, what exactly do you do when you're not working?" she asked, leaning back in her chair.
"Uhm..." he thought, "think about work, go to church...uhm...clean..."
She grinned. "You're a real square, you know that, right? But, it's okay. Cause you're kind of a cute square."
He smiled. "And what does that make you?"
"I am a triangle. Not exactly a square, but not a circle."
"And I never passed Geometry..." he rolled his eyes.
Miranda laughed. "I find that hard to believe. You strike me as a teacher's pet."
Rupert laughed. "In my school years, I was a teacher's worst nightmere..."
"Surprising. Very surprising." she remarked as the waitress came back with their drinks.
"I know...I was sent to boarding school where I was smacked into shape after that..." Rupert smiled a sad smile as he took his coffee.
"Apparently they did their job..."
He nodded, drinking his coffee. "Got me right back in shape..."
"How unfortunate. I'd have loved to meet the rebel Rupert."
"He's long gone..." Rupert said. "Much to the better of my being...I guess."
"I suppose. But, you never know." she shrugged and took a sip of her drink.
"Nope, you never do know..." he said queitly and stared into his drink.
She nodded and took another sip, feeling silence settle over them.
He studied the rings in his coffee. The small chatter of nearby tables drifted over the sound of the coffe machine working.
