I dont want to start a war by saying this - though I probs will :( but when I went to Russia afew years ago - the feelings towards Americans are not very warm.

Russian strangers on the streets would come up to us (this being a group of small 14-16 year old kids by big burly Russians) thinking we were American and being quite rude. I shall not mention what they said or we will see some real ICBM's flying across the Pacific!!

This OF COURSE is not the view held by most Russians but there is obviously still some Cold War hostility left over!

Q. What is the current feeling in America - has it improved since the 70's??

Russia

I should have said -- it was 10 or 12 years ago I made my last visit to Russia, I made several between 1989-1993 or so. At that time, the Russian people were very, very sweet to me, and I fell quite in love with them.

If that has changed, I am sad to hear it. What I found in those heady days was that both the USA and USSR's "common people" had been taught to fear each other, then discovered we were almost exactly alike! It was such a revelation, you know?

Now, WHB, your question: what's the current feeling in the USA, regarding what? The Russians? I would say I still love them, can't speak for the rest of my country.

Well you see - I stayed with a family in Russia who loved America and all things America.

I dont think the situation is entirely to do with the Cold War. I think there is a world wide dislike of America but only amongst the violent bums in each country that are jealous of the USAs power and influence. Im not saying the world hates America, Im just saying that afew peeps are jealous.

This is the main reason for terrorism - not religion in my opinion.

Agreed

I think you are right, WHB. America has had a good run, and some of us Americans have a tendency to think if we could do it, anyone could, so we don't seem to have a lot of sympathy toward others.

It would do all of us a lot of good to live and work abroad for a couple years after we get out of school, you know, be an oppressed minority for a while and develop empathy.

OK, back to the questions:
What kind of pen do you prefer?

A ball point hands down.

Ok, I have a question; What kind of hat are you wearing right now?

Is it:
A. a baseball cap?
B. a cowboy hat?
C. an english bowler hat?
D. a "safari" hat?
E. a Pope hat?
F. a beer hat?
G. All of thee above?
H. None of thee above?
I. This is a stupid, meaningless question with no relevence to anything that has happened and you are an idiot for even asking it?

KK, famous people: I don't think I've ever met anyone famous, but my best friend's aunt was once on a plane that had *all* the Dallas Stars hockey team on it (this was about 4 years ago, maybe more, when Hockey was still played).

I am soooooo jealous.

What type of pen do I like:
One that works. :D

What Type of hat is smog wearing:
What are you doing wearing a hat while typing on your computer?

lets see E and I

Hmm.."god bless the USA" actually exists? I humbly bow to the ground begging you to forgive my ignorance....

anyways, the most famous person I met has to be the CTV weekend news anchor. We go to the same church. Exciting huh? Depressing, I know...

Hmmm

"God Bless the USA" is a country song.

I think a Biro and a ball-point are the same kind of pen.

I would like to have a pope hat.

It's time for a new question ...

Who's your favorite person to hang out with?

hmm...that's a tuffie. I don't think there is a sungular person I like to hang out with...I like the people at my lunch table and in my orchestra and of course my Mam (sounds like loser, I know) we get along terrifically!

Well, that's a hard question because I don't "hang out" with just one person. There is a group of people at my church that I "hang out" with, but it's just that a group, it wouldn't be as much fun if there was only one of them (in reality I'm saying this because several if the people I am friends with are on this sight, and if I name one, the others will come after me...:))

Probably the girl I went to Junior-Senior("Prom," more or less) with, though I don't get to hang out with her much, I covet the time we spend together (spoken like a true Romantic, but I must remember that I'm not in any sort of Romantic relationship with her.......).

Other than that, it'd have to be my computer-nerd homefries. We always have fun playin' Halo2 & BattleField together, lol!

Smog, what a pansy! Own up to it--tell us who you like the most out of the people you know (in real life) who are on here!

Well, personally I like Gandalf, although he can get mean when he's sobber.

After that would come Pippin, Aragorn (the real one), and Sam.

And then the "Master Chief", William Wallace and Donald Duck.

Are you happy now???

(Was that too cynical for you???)

A guy from my school - he makes laugh til it hurts!!! I love people that make me laugh, but thats actually quite unusual cos Ive got such a dodgy sense of humour.

Same question...

Hurray

Hurray for your answer, WHB, I have SUCH a soft spot for anybody that can make me laugh. I swear it is the first thing that made me fall in love with my husband, because he keeps me laughing all the time.

You can expand this question to:
What PEOPLE do you like to hang out with, if you can't limit yourself to one.

A friend of mine at school who has this very interesting sort of humor and who actually likes some of the weird things I like. We have different views on a lot of things, but we can always have very interesting conversations.

Next question: What's your dream job?

Dream job? Either a travel writer or a furniture restorer-I was speaking to one of my fave peeps to 'hang out with' about this on Sunday (i've known him since school and he's wicked!) 2 Q's answered in one! Woo-hoo.

Same Q.
