A Practical Suggestion:
Since each person knows what personality and desires THEIR OWN character has, EACH player can contribute to keeping OTHERS aware of what's happening. Instead of only posting, "She said hello," REMIND the rest of us about things. In true Navy tradition, let me lead by example. Dayhawk's absence has left Alipang unable to interact with her character Kim Tisdale; but I'll do a stream-of-consciousness passage which fits the last situation we had for Kim. It will REMIND the rest of you what kind of boy Alipang is, just as I count on the rest of you to start reminding us about your characters...
Some days are much longer than others, not always for bad reasons. Less than a full day before, Alipang Havens had just been one more stereotypical hard-working, highly-accomplished adopted Asian child. Now, one church service and a lunch later, the world was different; for the first time since the nasty rebellious period he didn't want to remember, he felt the desire to do crazy things. In the middle of being a dependable waiter at a wholesome family restaurant, he wanted to act like some ridiculous television character. This was not at all a return to destructive attitudes; it was the nearest thing he had yet experienced to being in love.
He knew that his feeling did not deserve to be called love; even if the girl he was drawn to had been someone he could expect to want him in return, their acquaintance was far too slight to be called a relationship yet. But he could say that meeting Kim Tisdale had made him WISH FOR the experience of being in love. In the short term, he wished that she would say something at least hinting that she liked him. But if she was not going to do that, he could only hope that she and her family would leave before HE said something which would eternally label him in her eyes as a world-class idiot.
