"Maybe," Dan said as they pulled up to the cafe. He paid the driver and got out, offering a hand to Chilena.
 
" She little Dan she says thing like that oh, my brother just looks up for me you know and in her mind he does things," she told him, looking her fingers with his again with a smile.
 
Meanwhile, Alipang had a surprise at the Pansit Paradise: the two LeMarque siblings from Smoky Lake East came in to dine, with their parents and a kid brother named Stuart. They asked to be waited on by Alipang; and when introducing him to her parents and Stuart, Cindy strongly emphasized his "gallantry" when preventing her from getting hurt on the stairs at school.

Lord God, the boy prayed, please don't let this girl fall in love with me, when I'm not attracted to her! It's _easier_ to endure Kim not caring squat about me, than to feel guilty about _myself_ not being able to love a perfectly nice girl who just doesn't happen to turn me on....
 
The next customer for Alipang, taking off some of the perceived pressure from the LeMarques, was the senior priest from St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Alipang knew the priest through his Escrima teacher, Mr. Imada's younger brother. Pete Imada, more properly Pitik Imada, was a parishioner at St. Timothy's; though Rafael had left Catholicism, this had not caused a serious rift between the brothers.

Alipang asked the priest, "Do you want your usual, Father?"

Name: Father John Penn.
Background: Family was dedicated to the church, and therefore, Father John became a priest himself. Has been a priest for over twenty years.
(anything else I should add?)
