I Wonder who could play the Green Witch??

Besides, I don't think they could get away with casting Tilda even if they wanted to. Most people are getting tired of her making appearances, and I do'nt see why they would change the story to make it seem like the White Witch and the Green Witch are the same.
I agree but they should at least cast someone physically similar to Tilda, so people can make that connection of evil in Narnia.

Not necessarily. Again, I think performance is far more important than looks. As long as she can give us that strange feeling where we just know she's evil, I'll be happy. :p

The trouble with Tilda`s constant re-appearence throughout the three films is that now her image has almost become the image of ultimate force of evil in Narnia in these versions.
I now think we have got to the stage where it will be very hard to resist having her turn up in `Silver Chair` somewhere even if they actually cast somebody else to play `The Green Lady`.

SPOILERS

ive just finished reading the magicians nephew (after reading silver chair), because this is presumably the filming order of the next movies. the more i think about it, im actually liking tilda to play the emerald witch. hear me out. i think it will be jarring to have seen her in the first 3 movies, suddenly introduce another witch in the 4th movie, and then swing back to jadis' origin story for the 5th movie. and in magicians nephew we find out that she eats the apple of eternal life. in LWW book she does die, but in the MOVIE we do not see what actually happens to her beyond aslan jumping on top of her. and the movies and books are separate entities. and in book PC they can call up her spirit, and in film PC they actually do. so she may be dead physically, but her spirit lives on. i suggest that either the emerald witch is played by tilda as a new witch who has called up jadis, and is possessed by her spirit, or that if played by someone new, that they show during the snake transition sequence a quick moment of jadis between the emerald witch and the full snake. i think this helps for overall continuity of the film series. and if she represents "satan" then i have no issue with her actually not dying (as others have protested), as he is a continual presence, even though death was overcome and he was defeated by jesus/aslan's resurrection (according to biblical theology). i see no way of including her in HHB or LB though (not that im trying to). ooh and i like the projected filming order of SC, MN, HHB, LB, as i've just read about a flying talking horse in MN, and a talking horse is then a main character in HHB. and in HHB we are introduced to the calormenes as the enemy, who then reappear in LB. it makes much sense!!

The problem that this all poses, however, is the fact that we would be getting Jadis' backstory after she has been "defeated", has reappeared, and then have no place to come back at all. Jadis is not Tash, which is precisely why it's a bit of a problem for her to be representing the "ultimate evil" in the films. In the books, she is just one of several evils throughout the history of Narnia, because it's a fantasy series, which is why we also have the Telmarines, the temptations and dangers of the ocean, the Calormenes/Tash, and the Lady of the Green Kirtle.

Wow. I really would love to see Lewis' response to this. No offense, but that statement is ignorant. Pure and simple. If you think that Aslan just "jumped on her and scared her", then you shouldn't claim to understand the books. Or even the films. Good heavens.

And uh...I hate to tell you this, but Tilda won't be back to play the Emerald Witch. Gresham has already said that they will cast someone else. Lewis wrote nothing nor said nothing to indicate that Jadis' spirit lived on in other beings. For one thing, Satan exists in many forms. He uses demons. He uses worldly things. His own "spirit", if you want to call it that, isn't a spirit. Lewis didn't make the White Witch a central character in any books but LWW and TMN. There was a reason. The White Witch's power came to an end in LWW. Lewis didn't envision her showing up elsewhere, and I think it would be nearly bordering on blasphemous to imply that Jadis and the Emerald Witch are the same being.

They come from the same line, they are NOT the same person, NOR are they the same entity. I can't even begin to say how much that post frankly, shocks and offends me. No offense to you as a person but...yeah. Oh, and if Tilda is cast as the Emerald Witch, you can be assured that TSC will be the very last Narnian film made for a long time.

I tried to like your post, but it said I have to spread more reputation around before I can give it to you again. =/ i do remember liking one of you posts before, and find it strange that you have no green light...

Anyway, THANK YOU. I could not have said it better; I'm glad you did it for me. ;)

I have 5 reputations...so I don't know how much it takes to become green. :) Thanks though.

I must be spending too much time reading BK's posts (lol), but I'm starting to become more of a book purist when reading all of these supposed changes. How fans can suggest such things is beyond me.

Yes! I try to be optimistic about the movies, and accept those changes. But I'm still a book purist. When someone suggest something preposterous, it's... preposterous. ;) If something like that came into the movie, I'm convinced I would boycott the franchise.

I have always imagined her looking sort of like an elf... She had a winsome appeal to her, and did not appear overtly scary. But she had a bewitching way about her.

If you disagree, feel free to do so. This is just how I imagined her.

I could her imagine her being someone like Essie Davis. I liked her a lot in The Girl With The Pearl Earring. She's pretty and from her part in The Girl With The Pearl Earring, you want to dislike her.

Keira, to me, always looks too young. I don't want someone who looks and IS too young (even though Keira is nearly 30, me thinks). Besides, she's really too well known.

And I've never seen how Keira is all that talented when it comes to acting. I just haven't. MissReep, I kind of agree with you. The Lady should be sort of an Elf-like character, obviously tall, slender, and deadly beautiful (no pun intended :p ), but they shouldn't go too Elf-like, otherwise you might have people thinking that she is an Elf. ;)

I think someone mentioned Morgana from BBC's Merlin, she would be lovely. The Girl from Warner Bros. new Red Riding Hood movie would be an interesting choice, she's very elf like in the trailers, only issue is that she is blonde.

It needs to be a new, unknown actress, with no past associations in people's minds.

That works best I think, but if they 'had' to, both these actresses are obscure enough (at least in the states), that I doubt they would be type cast (unless Red Riding Hood becomes a run away hit, which I doubt). I always prefer an unknown in important roles, but I think these ladies could pull it off, need it be.

Amanda Seyfried is much too young-looking. Besides, I've seen at least one of her movies and I don't think she'd be a good Emerald Witch. To me, she has the look of forever-innocence, something the Witch does not need to have. There's got to be a sinister person lying underneath the surface, and you have to be able to believe that an actress could portray that without a doubt. Amanda, while she's beautiful, just looks too young, and I wouldn't be able to believe she was evil.
