I Wonder who could play the Green Witch??

well this may or may not be a serious reply, but what about nicole kidman!! i think her red hair will go well with the green dress. and she looks young enough, what with all that botox. and even though i dont like her, she sort of has that same ice queen quality that tilda has, very strong with a cool intelligence. if anyone was going to be seen "as another one of those northern witches" i think shes a good choice, plus shes tall and intimidating, (and the book says she was very tall) but can also play sweet and beguiling. ok shes not sexy, but she is INTRIGUING, enough for a young man to want to follow her. and shes very tall, so easy to morph into a tall long serpent. plus she did play the evil witch in THE GOLDEN COMPASS. also, they might actually need to get a BIG NAME for that role, otherwise how else are they going to sell the movie? unless they get a big name as jill (but i would prefer they kept her an unknown).

I don't like Nicole Kidman, and I'd be very much against TSC if she were in it. (She was in Golden Compass, which means I refuse to support any film she's in). Besides, she's too well known AND she's an Oscar winner.

I don't want her in ANY Narnia films, period. But Ian McKellen was in The Da Vinci Code, and he's a rather... interesting person, who's beliefs directly contradict mine. Yet I wouldn't want anyone else to play Gandalf in The Hobbit. Still, it would be ironic to have a witch from The Golden Compass play a witch in Narnia!

Which means they'd want her in EVERY Narnia movie afterwards, like Tilda Swinton!

I agree with you in both points. Unless Nicole Kidman was the ABSOLUTELY PERFECT one for the role, I would NOT want her in the movie. And since she's not the perfect one for the role, I don't have to grapple with the decision.

True...regardless, I don't like Ian McKellen either, and outside of the Lord of the Rings, I don't like him as an actor.

Why do you refuse to support any movie she is in because of The Golden Compass? I can understand if you didnt like those books or the movie version, just seems silly to not like an actress for that reason.

On a side note, Nicole was NOT A WITCH in the Golden Compass. She was Lyra's mother. The witches were Serafina Pekkala and the clan.

Because I don't appreciate TGC's content, nor the intent of its author. But hey, the movie flopped at the box office, so maybe that's a sign. Besides, I haven't cared for Nicole in the other pieces of movies that I've seen her in.

Hey, Nicole Kidman is blond... or redhead.. I don't know. Either way I like actresses like her!!

I can understand that, though I have to say when I read His Dark Materials, I didnt read it as a series by an atheist. I read it as a fun read.

Nichole Kidman would make a fantastic Lady of the Green Kirtle, though she is a bit too old.

And don't hate on her for the Golden Compass. From what I had read, she actually had the writers remove a lot of the anti-Catholic themes revolving around her before she accepted the part.

Anti-catholic parts aren't all I'm concerned with... the whole purpose of the book and film were to bash God and the church.

I hate to tell you, but Pullman's works aren't simply "anti-Catholic". It's anti-God. Pure and simple. I don't think Kidman will be chosen anyway because I don't t hink most people even knew who Swinton was when she was cast. I didn't. Maybe that's just me. more than likely they'll get somebody who's a lesser-known actress.

And simply because she asked to remove things doesn't mean that being in the film is any more forgivable.

Nichole Kidman will never be cast for SC if it ever gets made for the simple reason that it would cost them too much.
Instead what they will probably do is what they have already been doing with the previous movies and go for an experienced actor from outside Hollywood.
A lot will depend on where they decide to make it, if they chose the UK for example then Katie McGrath could be very high on the list of probable candidates due to her already playing similar roles in things like Merlin.
Then again, perhaps the way the battle in `Dawn Treader` ended is a strong indication that they are just going to cast Tilda in the role anyway.

In the Narniafans interview with Douglass Gresham, he said that they would be looking for another actress to play the part- not Tilda. :)

Well thats good news anyway!

Besides, I don't think they could get away with casting Tilda even if they wanted to. Most people are getting tired of her making appearances, and I do'nt see why they would change the story to make it seem like the White Witch and the Green Witch are the same.

If they did, I'd be MAD!
