Gryphon said:well, im not surprised... i knew they believed in angels, so why cant they believe in fallen ones? although, their demons and angels probably differ from the ones spoken about in the Bible.
I believe that that is correct...Green Knight said:Nope, they are the same angels, just with different names. Chrisitanity did influence Islam after all.
Angels: The Children of Light
Djinn: The Children of Smokeless Flame
Humanity: The Children of Earth
There is a Djinn lord called Iblis, but he is the ruler of the Djinn who did not accept Mohammad as the Prophet of Allah, or humanity's place in the hierarchy above the Djinn. (Though I am probably wrong.)
I never read the book, but I know the theory. It's certainly interesting, though I'm fairly sure I don't buy it.inkspot said:In that L'Engle book "Many Waters," the djinn are presented as the sons of God who married human women in Genesis 6:2, before the flood. It is a very intriguing book, as you get the sense these beings are evil, yet they aren't doing anything particularly evil, just careless, and you don't know whether they and their families were wiped out in the flood, or if they were able to save their human brides -- or where they might have gone. Did they become demons? It's a mystery.
