Welcome Dame of Gondor! You can call me Dr. Watson. It's great to meet you!
Thank you everyone for your welcomes.
This is the first forum I've joined, so I'm pretty excited.
*Slightly late* Welcome Skye! *Gives hot chocolate* there, now it's a more warm welcome.
I am a Christian male, married for 13 years as of this writing. I enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction, but never read blog-style books until stumbling across "The First Love of Alipang," here in The Dancing Lawn. My favorite traditional authors include Carmen Marcoux and Bud MacFarlane, Jr. for the genre of Christian fiction. For traditional fiction, I enjoy Dean Koontz and Alan Dean Foster's work, as well as a growing interest in M.C. Beaton after having seen the U.K. series, "Hamish Macbeth." I have enjoyed reading Tolkien and am now reading it to my children. C.S. Lewis also has MUCH to recommend him.
My favorite NON-fiction (as well as fiction) writer is G.K. Chesterton. He was an absolute genius whose "Fr. Brown Mysteries" are quite enjoyable. His social commentaries are not only just as applicable today as they were almost 100 years ago when they were written, but are brilliant insights bordering on the prophetic.
I have roots in The Midwest and The South. I grew up in Ohio, but have family in Georgia. I now live in Alabama, where I work as an Anti Aging, Integrative and Aesthetic Medicine physician. I moonlight as an Urgent Care doc to keep my hand in primary care and as a weight loss doc to help pay bills.*
*(N.B.: NO medical advice given online. Dispensing advice without a thorough history and in-person physical exam would be too dangerous for BOTH of us. You deserve better than what I can give you online.)
I have served in the United States Army as a physician for 5 years. I am a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. I serve on the board of directors of a local crisis pregnancy counselling center for about 2.5 years now.
