Eventually, we all will be looking into colleges, once we get to that stage in life. As I'm sure, Tesse you are, as well as I am.

Well, two that I've contacted, and I'm waiting to hear back from one, but, Viriginia Military Institute, has a Pipe and Drum corps that plays during the big marches on the parade field with the Corps of Cadets. So I reached out to the guy in command of it all, and apparently, he can teach me to play the bagpipes once I arrive on campus, even though I have no prior experience whatsoever. Haha I'm pysched if that turns out to be the college I go to.

wow that's awesome, Gannon! yeah there is a huge Scottish/Irish band program here in California, and I know quite a few guys that play the bagpipes and other traditional instruments. I always thought it would be quite interesting to play the bagpipes. I think they make very nice music, especially accompanied with the flute.

bagpipes? COOL! My cousin Evan plays them. He's fantastic. I want to learn to play a Bodhrán and then we can accompany each other.

It would. Bodhrán's sound really hard though.

Do you play percussion? Although I've never personally played on a Bodhrán, I'd suspect that it can't be too different from a djembe drum...

not very well.... I was going to do so for middle school band but I did flute instead. Not complaining, though - I'm glad I did flute.

I did flute and clarinet in junior high band... the flute is tricky, but I think its lots of fun, and very pleasant to listen to.

Yep. It's beautiful once you get it right. Tuning is tough. I remember we did an irish song at one point but I can't remember it's name.

hmmm... I play the piano, and even though that really isn't an Irish instrument, I played this complicated piece that was sort of an Irish dirge, so it was slow and mournful, and very Celtic sounding, but it sounded so beautiful when I played it on the piano...

ah well I've been playing for almost ten years now... and I love it!

I also think that the violin is a very nice accompany in Irish music as well..

SETTLED for guitar!? *is jealous* can't play that to save my life. I also can't play violin. My talents are at percussion and flute.
