People like to use the word "judgment" a lot when you have an opinion as if to imply you shouldn't have one. I am with you on this Sir Godfrey.

I think people confuse judging sin with judging everyday things. We cannot judge sin, only God can do that. But we can make everyday judgments on things or events we are faced with on a daily basis. Those judgments help us make decisions and allow us to form opinions. After all, exercising free will is also making a judgment.

I hope Sir Godfrey, that you can understand that so that you can answer to people who tell you not to judge when you express your opinions: No, we are no to judge sin, but we are allowed to make other judgments on whether we agree or not agree with things.

But I agree,that's not how I imagined Eustace's dragon form. It does remind me of Jar Jar Binks...*sigh* My hopes are still up for this movie though.

Yes, it is a good image. Far better than the one on the poster! The dragon doesn't look how I imagined him, but so what? He's still a good dragon.

Do you mind posting what people were debating about?? I don't see anything special about his legs. But maybe that's just me being unobservant. :p:rolleyes:
 
For a moment I wasnt sure what he mean then I saw it...THE LEGS!!!

If you look closely, the legs of Aslan's shadow are exactly like the legs of a lamb. They are so thin and they are bent exactly like the legs of a lamb. Aslan's face is also much smaller and the nose is more lamb like. As the shot continues, the legs become more lion like and the face grows bigger.

I guess this is the filmakers way of showing the Lamb to Lion.

Uhm, no. It doesn't look like that at all. If you go by the shadows only, well, depending on where the light is coming from and the angle, heck, even my legs can look like itty-bitty lammie. But no, in that TV spot it doesn't look like that at all.
 
Could your bias of being completely pessimistic about the movie be affecting your judgement?

I'm not saying that I believe the film will be great, but that shadow is clearly morphing. The legs arent just think, they are shaped and bent in a completely different manner from a lion's. The mane also grows and the nose shape changes.
 
No. Nothing grows or changes. It's less than a second of footage of the shadows and it doesn't look like lamb at all. Heck, it doesn't even show the entire shadow of the legs as they are truncated by the top edge of the scene. I see what I see. It has nothing to do with my judgment. Who am I going to believe? You or my own eyes?:D
 
Well you are right that we are only getting less then a second of the shot. But as I paused and clicked it so I could see the frames I didnt notice a difference in the shadows and that the legs were changing. You could be right that the light does affect the shape of things but I doubt it.

I guess I'll have to find out in the movie. You don't mind if I give you spoilers about things like this right?
 
It goes by too fast for me to really tell. But the changing shape (what little I could catch) seemed to only be because the sun was hitting him differently as he moved. He looked nothing like a lamb. And I have been 95% optimistic about this movie so far. I'm simply pointing out the facts in this clip. There are only a few seconds of footage to analyze and I see no transformation or even a hint at transformation into a lamb. Besides, why would the moviemakers bother? No one would really tell. If they wanted to use the lamb they would use the lamb, not make Aslan's shadowy legs look thin.

My point is that in the full scene we may see the shadow of a full lamb turn into the shadow of a full lion. we only got a extremely brief glimpse.

Again, this is speculation.

That is a possibility, and it would be nice if they did so. But I don't see it happening.

Honestly, it looks like a moving shadow. Nothing special about it. How can you tell that from a hardly-even-one-second clip? Are we sorta grasping at straws here? 'Cause there's nothing in that hardly-even-one-second shot to indicate that there will be a hint at morphing. It just looks like a moving shadow, which DOES change as your position to the sun changes. :rolleyes:
 
It has to be the way the sun is hitting him, because his legs are thin, then get big, then thin, then big, with each step. Sorry...nice thought...but I just don't see it.
 
The transition had to be very quick. Otherwise, with Aslan's emerging lion side, halfway through the process he'd be tempted to eat himself. ;)
