Mod Q&A Thread II

I have a question about reputations and referals. I've received some of these from other members, and I don't understand how I would give them to other people. Is there a place where I can do this?

I'm not sure about the reputation, but from what I understand of referrals, if you tell one of your friends about TDL and and they join, you can get a referral from them, saying that you told them about it.... I'm pretty sure that's what it is...

Wow Derny!?!? How did you find that old school one with the retro blue background. That brought a huge wave of nostalgia!! As did all those pages. Now I have an even greater desire to find the thread :( I'm planning on starting a new one but we'll lose all the classic comments made by the old brits like pratterson and rosymole and johan and rogue and sam48 and....... oh i'm going to go cry now....

:( Is there a way to search soft deleted threads? It might be among those.

I'm sorry. It's really hard to take. Maybe I shouldn't have posted all those pages from it...just makes it harder, I suppose.
 
I think I can answer that one. ^^^ Julies kinda explained this too me. When a thread gets REALLY big, it slows the server WAY down...so the 100000 post game thing is causing the server to act slow, and the mods can't help it or make it change.
 
That's part of it Nicki, the large threads contribute to the "server is busy" kind of thing, but yall begged us to keep the 100000 post thread here for now. After May 16 when the game is up it will go by the wayside so that the server works better.

As for your question Nicki, you can add to a reputation when you see a post you like by going to the little set of scales located at the top of the post. Click on those and then follow the directions from there. You can add comments as well. Referrals can also be given when people register. They type in your screenname. It will add to your referral count.

Olorin the Wise, I think that if one deletes the first post that the other posts after it in a thread will remain, but if your first post is the only one then yes the thread will disappear.

WHB, ask Paul about it and see if he can find it for ya. He'd know how to do it if it's possible I'd think.

When the Mods archive a thread, is it automatically locked when it hits Cair Paravel, or do they have to do that manually?
 
Must be automatic; I never did anything but move them. (I think it's the whole section of the forum that's locked...or something lilke that.)
