Mod Q&A Thread II

And we have to have a way to fix things if Olórin tries to use the Ban button as he did the other day, before he found out that only mods can direct it properly. :p
 
Which court order? It wasn't about the pretzels, was it? Honestly, it wasn't me! I was just an innocent bystander! I mean, it's not like I could have climbed up to the top of the Sacred Pretzel Mountain and laid a trail of pretzels from the DLF's hiding place to the door of Specter's office, is it? How could I have done that? It's impossible to climb that mountain! There are rocks and trees and boulders and little streams that are too wide to jump but don't look like it, so you end up geting wet, and it ruins your shoes, and then when you get to the top the pretzels are chained to another rock, and...

This question turns up so often that we even have an FAQ devoted to it (see question 8). Frankly, I can't imagine why anyone would want to be a mod. Just enjoy being a member.
 
I agree completely. Except for the Ban Button. And getting to post in locked threads, and read other people's user notes, etc... the best thing would be to have the Ban Button and be a normal member at the same time. :D

A mod can be demoted, though to my knowledge that's only ever happened by the mod's request, not as a punitive measure.

By the way, only Specter can do that. We mods can't ban or demote each other. We know this for certain because we keep trying to do it to HB, and can't. Maybe we'll figure out a way someday.
